Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces accidentally shot down a Russian military aircraft on Monday evening following a missile strike on the Syrian coastal city of Latakia that was attributed to the Israel Air Force, according to CNN

 

The report was based on information provided by “a US official with knowledge of the incident”, who told the US news outlet that Assad’s forces were responding to a barrage of Israeli missiles.

The Syrians are blaming Israel by the way. They are saying it's Israel's fault for forcing the plane south and the making the Syrans think it's a Israeli plane.

No it's not the Israelis fault but it is the Syrians fault for being trigger happy and not verifying who it was. I guarantee that whoever pulled that trigger is at the bottom of a ditch.

It's funny the Syrians can't aim...just shot all over the place, Israeli planes were already back in Israeli territory by then, and took their buddies down instead who were nowhere near the area Israel attacked even...pretty pathetic if you ask me.

 

As for blame game - it's first and foremost Iran's fault because they're the reason Israel needed to attack in the first place. Then Syria because they're the ones who shot it down. And lastly the Russians because they're the ones who butted in  there for one, and who gave them those systems for two. But there are some who would blame Israel if it snowed in Miami.

No doubt, Israel should continue to do what it needs to do even at the cost of conflict with the Russians. But the price tag of such conflict should be made clear ahead of time - ending the Assad regime.
