someone at the USCIS is on a roll today! after our petition was returned, i got kind of disheartened checking the website every day and seeing no change. after hearing news of a fellow VJer having been touched today, (congrats to cara and mo) i thought one more look won't hurt. lo and behold, we've been touched! just another baby step but at least it's something. :)

Well I was issued a letter of intent to deny and really heartbroken and was asked for a waiver. So filled out the waiver and left for Algeria on the 9th of May. I was told by 2 lawyers that there was little chance of an approval for our 129F due to Imbra. So we went ahead and got married May 16th in Tunis Tunisia ( go ahead and try to think about what a hassle it was to fly and move to another country 2 hours away by plane and go through all expense and hell to get married there) Then I arrived home.. um... and .. THE APPROVAL WAS THERE FOR THE 129F.. Um square one anyone? So anyway to make a long story short, I just hired a lawyer for 1500 for the 2 visa aps and scraped together another 190 and 170 and now I am back in the WAITING GAME AGAIN.. except this time for the I 130 and the 129f . The lawyer says the approved 129f is a good thing in my file and just substantiates the relationship further ( yeah like I care about that right now) I am so depressed. So anyway, next week ( Monday) I mail him all our disclosures and so by next week, my package should be off to the INS and then the wait starts againnnnnnnnnnnnnn. But this time its a marriage visa and not fiancee.. what a flipping mess... Oh well.. I was terrified when I was Denied with no RFE but if I would have a had a lawyer to begin with , we would already almost be together.. Now I cannot afford to go back until December cause this trip wiped me out financially.. totally and completely wiped out between having to fly to Tunisia and then back to Algeria ... yada yada yada. In morocco the consulate is closed so I dont think I would have been able to even get an affadavit of marriage. Tunisia is relatively easy to get married in... I just went through all of the whole Tunisia marriage gambit.. You need time in the country.. ( about 2 weeks) to get everything done and the marriage itself is about 500 dollars with papers, notaries, copies and affadavits. You need to have a drs note ( 60 euros a piece)

You need a birth certificate less than 20 days old. You need permission from both embassies ( the Algerian embassy requires a certificate of non marriage, residency papers, new birth certificate, the army card showing proof of service.

The American embassy just asks you if you are free to marry and takes your passport and you swear. Then you have to have original divorce certificates, orginial birth certificate ( THEY KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL>> CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?) I suggest if any of you who want to legally marry Moroccans in Tunisia use a notary. Contact a translator first and they will tell you who the notaries are. Its very hard to get married in the city hall. If you spend a little money and get a notary, she runs around to all the places for you and gets the 5 sets of stamps. ITS A BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG STORY. But our translator was really good and he helped us so much. So anyway.. Now its time to send my papers to my attorney. I found my attorney on this site and he is really good and fast and smart and really gets your file set up quickly. So anyway, I just got married in Tunisia and Tunisia is a good place to get married if you want to marry someone from North Africa because they do not have a huge waiting period ( except UK.. they have a 21 way period of waiting before the UK embassy will issue permission to marry.
