Income requirements

My boyfriend and I meet almost all of the k1 visa requirements. The only one I'm concerned about is the income requirement. I'm young and have never worked yet, but I plan to soon. My mom is willing to be a co sponsor but she's on disability, does that matter? Even with her disability, she's pretty close to the minimum. She has some equity in the house and some money in the bank, though. I'm going to speak to a professional but can anyone tell me what they think of the situation? Is using my mom a bad choice? I'll wait until I have a stable income if I have to, but i'd hate to wait that long.

I’m not sure if disability counts for immigration purposes. But even if it does, if she’s close to the 125% of the poverty line, it’s risky. They don’t like it when it’s too close. If you haven’t filed the K1 yet or if you just filed, you have time to find a job and not use a co-sponsor. Or just find another co-sponsor.

Yes, disability can qualify as income. But yeah, being borderline with a co sponsor and having never worked is going to be a very uphill climb to ensure they won't become a public charge.

Their home equity and savings can be counted as well (at a 3:1 ratio) to cover the income gap, although the home is an iffy one sometimes.
