Howdy,

So my Anita, hopefully should be getting her visa soon. I started to look for airfare. I found this Lufthansa flight that goes Amman -> Frankfurt -> Los Angeles. But believe it or not, Germany needs a visa just for her to TRANSIT THERE !!! Literally get out of one airplane and into another one ! What is this ? So I guess I have to find another route, but I just wanted to vent...

LOL

Many countries have Transit Visa requirements - it's not a big deal if she's simply switching between connecting flights.

What it really means is your fiancé will have to remain in the Transit Area until the next/connecting flight (as in can't leave the airport - or international portion of the terminal).

It's not a huge deal really.. (the only issue could be if her flight is cancelled, because she would have to remain in the transit area. You can check with the airline to see if this happens, if they have sleeping rooms available - which they may.)

A transit visa should not be required since she will already have a visa for the U.S.

http://www.timaticweb.com/cgi-bin/tim_webs...ubuser=DELTAB2C

Exemptions to the visa requirement apply when holding specific

resident permits or visas for Australia, Canada, New Zealand,

U.S.A. and E.E.A. countries (TIRGL/EEA )and TWOV is then

permitted.

You guys are getting worked up over nothing. My fiance as well as two others that I know of on MENA came through Frankfurt without any transit visa. It just means you can't leave a certain area. Our fiances all changed planes without incident.

Before you go and give advice that will get the OP in trouble if followed, check the visa requirement differences between Morrocco and Iraq....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

National MOROCCO (MA) /Transit GERMANY (DE)

Destination U.S.A. (US)

ALSO CHECK DESTINATION INFORMATION BELOW

GERMANY (DE)

Visa not required if:

- transiting only through Frankfurt,

----------------------------------------------------------------------

National IRAQ (IQ) /Transit GERMANY (DE)

Destination U.S.A. (US)

ALSO CHECK DESTINATION INFORMATION BELOW

GERMANY (DE)

Visa required, even if continuing by the same aircraft.

Visa must cover each person mentioned in passport.

YMMV
