Sounds like this is another of those Welcome to America issues.

If somebody was assaulted where I am from the first call would be to the Police.

Here it seems you contact your favourite Politician who sits on it for months and then appoint a legal team to consider it for weeks.

Does seem odd.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Dems would argue about anyone to spite Trump. Kavanaugh is about as middle of the road as they come and the dems have to make up reasons not to confirm him. Like I said it is all about opposing anything Trump does.

Kavanaugh is middle of the road. Much like me.

Nope. As I stated already, there are many more-qualified or just as qualified individuals waiting in line to take his place, with the same philosophy, if not a lot less wish-washy, and more principled and disciplined. Conservatives would have plenty to like in choosing any of them (Kavanaugh was not wanted by Mitch at all), and if they want to play it smart, they'd go with one of several qualified women who hold staunch viewpoints, but Democrats would have a hard time attacking.

Democrats would have a hard time attacking?  Anyone that Trump nominates will get almost no votes from the so called party of the people due solely for political reasons.  He could nominate a conservative female and the Dems would still decide before even talking to them to vote against them.  This is the partisanship that started years ago.

Only one justice has ever been impeached and one resigned under threat of impeachment (and it wasn't even the one arrested for murder!). It is exceedingly difficult to do.

Again I really only see things getting worse for R's continuing to stick by Kavanaugh. I really do not know what is so important in keeping him, when they could simply replace him with someone better and free themselves from the mess. They'd come out looking better. Ford could take the tactic to file a report with the county police and launch a state investigation. If the R's insist on pushing him through, and the police or state's attorney decided to file charges we'd then run into a huge debacle of a sitting justice needing to be deposed, jailed... who knows. There is nothing protecting a justice from criminal prosecution.

The statement  I was responding to is that there is no check on SCOTUS which is factually incorrect.  Sure there have been very few instances of impeachment of federal judges, nevertheless it is a constitutional option left to the Congress to check the federal judiciary.

As to a state investigation, even though Maryland has no SOL on sexual assault Now, I believe there was one in place 36 years ago.  I believe the Ex Post Facto clause of the Constitution would apply here and I doubt any law enforcement agency would lift a finger to investigate it.

What I mean is Democrats would have a hard time utilizing sexual harassment complaints against a conservative female (that is if you think the current accusations is a mere ploy). They could complain in other ways, such as the basic stuff - how they will vote on a subject, their judicial philosophy etc. I'd think they'd also have problems attacking a few other potential qualified gentlemen. You aren't going to get Democrats singing the praises of a nominee Conservatives put up, but they certainly did not behave that badly to Gorsuch.

Can't say. We'd need our VJ lawyer to give her thoughts. The county police have already said they would be happy to investigate it. Have you noticed the new lawyer she's just obtained now? Quite a powerful figure, and could pull off some complicated legal stuff. Wouldn't be surprised if she did try and file a report, but we'll see.

Kavanaugh has a brand new round of problems now... more women with accusations.

Kavanaugh has a brand new round of problems now... more women with accusations.

Accuser says while she was drunk playing a drinking game at a frat party 30 years ago, Kavanaugh pulled out his manhood and she says she touched it by accident.

Big fay yawn and who cares.  Big nothing burger. If she is 100% accurate, I still think its barely worth a mention.  Pretty typical we got drunk at the frat house and did stupid kid stuff.

NB, whipping out 'junk' and sticking it in a woman's face at a party isn't 'stupid kid stuff'. If I knew any son of mine did that, he would rue the day he ever did such a thing and would wish he didn't have 'junk' to whip out. <_<
