I would like advice for myself and my husband's current situation.

We applied for a K1 visa in January, but have since gotten married in Europe and are now living together in Dublin, Ireland. We received a notice that the The National Visa Center has received our approved I-129F petition from USCIS and will now be forwarded to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Dublin.

As we do not wish to move to the United States at the moment and we are currently married, I believe we need to withdraw the K1 petition. However, we want to move to the United States together in the future. Is there a way to amend the petition or put something in place that would reduce our wait time? It seems that a CR-1 or IR-1 can have processing times of 12 months.

Any thoughts or advice is great. Thank you!

Yes, withdraw your petition for the K-1. THis is something the petitioner will have to do.

You have to start all over a file a CR1.  Timing wiill be 12-14 months but it sounds like you aren't in a hurry at the moment.

Nope, the I-129F is no longer valid. The USC petitioner should submit a letter to the consulate and USCIS to withdraw the petition.

If you want to come to the US in the future, an I-130 will be necessary. There's no way to change from an I-129F into an I-130.

K1 is no longer for you guys.

When you'll be ready to move to the US, you'll need a CR1 visa.

Lol, sorry. There is nothing that will reduce your future waiting time.

You MUST cancel your current K1.

Thank you for the response. That's what we thought and we will apply for the CR1 once we are ready.

We will cancel the K1 anyway, but why MUST we? Won't it just expire anyway?

Yes, it will. But always "cleanup after yourself" to make the process as simple as possible. It's not required that you withdraw it (although you CANNOT proceed with it as that would be fraud), but it can avoid some potential issues down the road (i..e if you breakup and they want to get petitioned by somebody else for a K-1).
