My fiance went to Dr. Rogelio Pardo Evans, and he was amazing! He helped my fiance get all the vaccines he was missing the same day, and was very kind and helpful! :)

Now we have the medical exam checked off the list! :D Now all we have to do is wait for the papers that are being apostilled to get back! and for the affidavits of support to get to him in the mail. (should be arriving tuesday), and we will have everything ready for the interview! :D

May I ask how you sent the documents, did you use USPS?  I've sent him I think three envelopes via USPS over the years and at least one never arrived.  He sent me two copies of the Letter of Intent, one expedited and the other not, and one arrived in like 10 days, and the other took 5 months!  I'm hoping to be there with him for the interview, but I want to send a copy of the documents ahead of time so he has them just in case.

Sure :) He called the day before (Thursday)to make the apppointment for the following day  (Friday) and went that same day (Thursday) to get the labs done. But yes, call ahead just in case they’re busy. To get an X-ray and blood work you need to have an appointment with the doctor for the physical exam already.

hey all my wife and I were married yesterday Sept 23rd and now will file for AOS. I am a bit concerned that the visa expires and even though I will file papers this week there seems to be no official status. For example we went through all of the hastle of getting her Michigan drivers liscense and now it will expire this week and technically she will not have a MI drivers liscense and will revert to using her CR liscense I guess. I also am concerned that if there was an issue there is no way of proving that we are in compliance other than having a copy of the marriage certificate. Praying for a quick AOS and a smooth process from here on out.

Congratulations on your marriage!

When you receive your I-797 (aka NOA1) for AOS, which is the "we received your application" letter, that is what proves that you are in compliance--basically that you have taken all the necessary steps in your power and you are currently awaiting a decision from the government.  You should have that in hand within about a week of filing your application.

Just a heads-up--you may want to check the laws in your state about driving with a foreign license.  Many states only allow you to use a foreign license as a tourist, and require you to get a license in their state if you take up residence in the state.  It varies though, so look it up.

Hey guys- hope all is well!

Just a question I have been thinking of... I notice on other forums people talk about the state/ government website showing monthly approvals based on visa type.  Often people will say for example "Country 'whatever' had only 20 approvals in the month of July 2018".  I noticed that CR tends to have lower numbers of approvals compared to some of the other listed countries.  Is because there are not as many applications as the other larger places for example countries in Africa, or is this because they have a tendency to deny immigration visas?  Just curious because there is no way to tell the number of total applications versus those approved.

This is the website I am referring to- https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics/immigrant-visa-statistics/monthly-immigrant-visa-issuances.html

Yes, I presume it is because Costa Rica has such a small population, and hence much fewer people applying for visas than in many other countries.  For example, for the CR1/IR1 visa, the Philippines has 862 records on VJ, while Costa Rica only has 35.  So CR would have way less approvals per month than PH.

Hey guys!  We finally got our NOA2 on Friday, so we're back to the waiting game again.  I had a question for those of you who have scheduled your interview already; are you able to pick your interview date, or does the embassy just assign you a date/time, or how does it work?  If you can pick your own date, more or less how booked up are the appointments–how soon can you book an interview?  Also if anyone has the instruction letter that the embassy sends that you would be willing to share, that would be awesome.  Thanks! :star:

Josue, my fiance passed his interview yesterday!!!!!!!! Praise God! :D How long should it take for him to get his passport back? They said up to 10 days. Any experience? He lives in Puerto Jimenez, so a little far from San Jose.
