Hi fellow visajourneyers!

My fiance just entered the US on Sept 5, 2018 and we are planning to get married at the city hall on Sept 21st. Question: Is 2 weeks too early to marry from the time he entered the US? I know the rule is within 90 days but mostly I've seen people get married after more than a month or at least 2 months after entry. The reason why we want it earlier so we can file an AOS and get a work permit at the same time. Work permit takes about 3 to 4 months. We are looking forward to have him working by January at least. So, will this impact anything with our AOS application? Insight please. Thank you. Your answers are all appreciated.

Edit: You can marry anytime in the 90 days. The sooner you marry, the sooner you can file for AOS.

Work permit is likely to take 4-6 months now, actually.

If you're on K1, the whole point of the 90-day window is to allow you to marry at any point during that window. You are prudent for wanting to file AoS quickly so you can get the EAD/AP quickly. Btw EAD/AP is taking more like 5-8 months. You are LUCKY if you get it in 4.

Congratulations, you can get married the very next day after arrival and it would not affect your AOS application.

The sooner you marry, the sooner you will get the certified marriage certificate that you will need to file for AOS (EAD+AP).

You can go straight to the courthouse from the airport after entering on a K1 and you'll be fine. There's no reason to wait. I don't exactly understand why some people wait till the end of their 90 days but it's their call.

The sooner, the better. Then you can begin the AOS part of the journey. Congratulations to the two of you!

True; can even get married without leaving the airport in some limited airports (e.g. St. Louis Lambert International Airport): https://thepointsguy.com/2017/09/avgeek-weddings-at-the-airport/

You can marry a few seconds after your fiance clears customs at the airport, or 1 second to midnight on day 89, and they would both carry the same weight. So, marry whenever you want, as long as it is between the time your fiance clears customs at POE and 11:59:59 p.m. on Day 89.

However, why waste time waiting out weeks or months to marry and file for AOS?? You will have more than enough waiting to do down the road.
