Hello! I know this is a really common question but I've been so worried about our upcoming interview and I have no one else to talk about it. I've been thinking about all the evidence we have and I just don't know if it's enough! Here's the thing. Me and my wife are currently in the process of selling her house that she bought right before she met me so my name isn't on any of the bills or the mortgage. The only bill that has my name on it is the AT&T phone bill. Another thing that can be served as proof is my name on her bank account and her new social security card with my last name on it. Those are the only "legal" documents I'd be able to provide. We do have a lot of pictures from the trips we took together. We went on a cruise, visited LA and NYC and I think that would be it. Is there anything else I could use as evidence? I just don't know if what I'm bringing is enough....

Car insurance? Car registration? Car titles? Health insurance? Life insurance?

Besides, you can always be added onto phone bills, utility bills, etc. I don't think her changing her name on her SSN card counts as evidence.

Like the above poster stated- health insurance, car insurance, life insurance. Joint credit card statements and joint banking statements-bring statements from the time the account was opened. State ID’s showing you both live at same address. Travel documents with both your names on it. My husband and I don’t have a lease/mortgage/joint bills to submit and we were fine- approved without interview.

Hi #Brava,

Aside from your phone bill and bank account, bring all your pictures together, your marriage certificate/license, plane tickets that you bought together, bank statements (are you an authorized user on her bank? you could use that too. I called the bank and asked for a letter stating that), and you may also add 2 personal letters coming from a friend and relative that they know you guys having a bonafide marriage but it is just supplemental. Hope this helps.

You can also bring your insurance cards such as health insurance, car insurance and also bring like ID's or letters stating that you live the same address.

Neither of us have a car. We both work from home so we don’t really need one and when we do, we take her mom’s car since we live under the same roof. We are about to move to New York City and having a car there is too problematic. We don’t have a health or life insurance either. Thank you so much for your insight though. I really appreciate it!

Perhaps you should get health/life insurance. Health insurance is kind of a necessity. You could also have wills, power of attorneys, and advance directives completed. Good luck at your interview!

I just wanted to add that we do want to obtain a health insurance but we just want to sell the house and move first. We’re moving out of state so getting a health insurance just doesn’t make sense to us because we’ll have to get a new plan anyways.
