This just goes to show that you need to do so much research on the immigration process you are applying to BEFORE you apply. She could have avoided all of this had she just done the research and her eldest kid wouldn’t be in this mess.

This thread has left me with more questions. For example, have any of the kids worked without USCIS authorization (i.e. EAD or GC)? Or have any of them officially claimed to be USCs, based on their mother's lack of grasp of the process? And based on OP's quote below, none of them have a legal status; only the eldest has "authorized stay" allowed by the US Attorney General:

No they have never worked or claimed to be a US Citizen. I talked to her today and She just got a lawyer to take care of everything. Her ex husband never wanted to do the AOS for the kids while she was married and she wasnt working,  just recently so i think that’s the reason why the kids dont have the gc.

Since this process can be DIY, we usually recommend to just do it without a lawyer. But since she has shown to not have a complete grasp of the process, getting a lawyer was a good choice.

Well, she should start comparing the fees charged by USCIS approved Civil Surgeons in her area; some charge way less than others. The kids' medicals done abroad no longer count as they didn't submit AOS within 1 year of the date of the medicals.

For the AOS fee, USCIS now accepts credit cards: https://www.uscis.gov/news/news-releases/uscis-expands-credit-card-payment-option-fees. Also, it's a quick way to get credit card rewards, for applicable credit card programs.
