Social Security number

We went today to apply for my fiance's social security number in Boston, and it could not have been easier. He arrived in the states on May 2.

We got to the O'Neil Building at 1:00, filled out the form, got a number, waited all of 5 minutes before we were called up to the window. The rep took his information, typed it in, asked him for his passport, asked him to sign another form. Then she said the card would arrive in 2 weeks. We were out by 1:25. So easy!

Good to hear.

We had the same luck w/ my husband here in central Florida. However, when I went to the SSA office yesterday to change my surname I asked about how he can have his SS card changed once his EAD is approved. She told me he shouldn't have been granted an SS # w/out his EAD.

I've heard that before too...

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

That's good to hear. The challenge is for the fiancee, applying for a new SSC showing the change from the maiden name to the married name. I waited for a week and a day at least for the corrected card to arrive in the mail.
