Hi

For the part which states - "

If you have ever been arrested or detained by any law enforcement officer for any reason, and
no charges were filed
, send:

"

Do you need to get court documents if you have had a speeding ticket (fine less than $100) or a moving violation (fine less than $100)?

Thanks.

Most likely you will never be asked for them, but I would recommend getting disposition letters for those unless you already have them.  I was never asked to produce, nor did I have all the records (one ticket was too old for me to remember where it was adjudicated)...  I simply listed it, and stated that it was dismissed.  The other ticket was one I was able to get a letter from the court, but again for one that was clearly a low enough amount, I was never asked for it during the interview, and was simply told that since the total was under (I believe) $600, there was no need to produce anything...

I had a speeding ticket many years ago, and called the magistrate in the county I was ticketed in. They sent me a disposition that stated the severity of my offense (Between 1-15 mph over limit), and it included proof my fine was paid in full ($0.00 balance). I plan on bringing the document with me just in case, but I also uploaded it as supporting evidence.

I mean, technically it's considered an offense I was not arrested for. There have been some arguments that it's negligible and unnecessary to include in your application, but I say go for it. Someone also mentioned that their Interviewing Office said it was really a way for them to find out who's withholding information, no matter how small. Better overshare than be under-prepared I guess!

You need to list those things on  the N-400, of course, the same way you need to list your AAA or Costco/Price Club membership under Part 12 A and B of the N-400. It's not up to the applicant to decide what matters and what's pretty irrelevant; that's the I.O.'s job.

But you do not need to provide any form of documentation for traffic offenses with fines under $100. The I.O. will look at it, perhaps make a joke or tell you to "slow down" when driving in town, and that's about it.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
