Filed September 29 2017 to the California Service center. March 4th transferred to the Vermont Service Center. September 1 was notified to have my bio metrics checked at the local (Phoenix) USCIS office. Went today and they said they have never done  Bio metrics for and I29F before. Is bio metrics near the beginning or the end of the service center process? Is it a new requirement? Why is this taking so long?

This is for the I-129f petition for K-1 visa? Biometrics aren't during this process.... unless for some really rare and unusual circumstance that I haven't heard of. The petitioner generally doesn't have to do anything....

Normally I-129f doesn't require biometrics, however maybe the reason can be same with why they transferred your case to Vermont. they may be in need to dig deeper on your background checks.

That was only thing I could think of myself. Something got a hit or something on the petitioners background.

I did have a felony conviction in 1996. All the charges and court data were included in the application.

That could be why; uncommon to go get biometrics done for the USC but it has happened but again kind of rare... let me see if I can find any old threads about this maybe to shine some light on it for you. Could be part of the whole delay in your process.

Yep, most likely that is it. From couple other threads I went through for the petitioner being requested for biometrics, one of there cases was transfered also like yours... both were taking forever in the I-129f petition phase, and both said they had admitted to a crime of some kind on their initial application, though one said it was merely a misdemeanor but something to do possibly with a sex crime also so...

Could be honestly you got chosen at "random" almost to have to do this. Or someone else with a similar/same name also has a conviction of some sort and they need to verify you are who you are and not this other person... hard to say entirely and they may never explain it either.

I had no idea the petitioners background really mattered unless it was sex crimes or something.

I have been arrested plenty of times but only charged with misdemeanors.

What are biometrics?

Being transferred to VSC for an I-129F is likely the delay. That usually only happens when there is a hit with certain types of serious criminal offenses. They have to do biometrics and/or manual investigations to confirm the crime (or if the individual is not the one they thouht it was that did the crime...false positives).

No, it is me but I included it all in my package as well as explanation and current character references. I laid it all out in the open from the start. But after so many months so far I would think they have accepted that.

I'm not doubting what you sent, but they do their own checks and maybe it came up with a hit for somebody else so they have to confirm that person is not you.

They probably want a set of prints to pull your FBI file. I run a set of my prints every 2 year's or so just to make sure my record is clean. The only way the FBI will release records is with a set of fingerprints, unless you are the FBI requesting the records. Even law enforcement cannot get your FBI rap sheet without a set of prints first, but that is usually handled when you get processed thru intake after arrest. When I request my own records it takes about 16 weeks, I'm sure USCIS gets results a lot faster. I pulled my file right before I filed and included it with my petition. Even though there was nothing on it, I figured I had it , why not include it, it was only a page showing my info and no records found on file.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services.
