Hi,

I'm new to the forums and apologize if this question has been asked before, I couldn't find any recent topic.

My fiancé sent the first packet two weeks ago and we are now awaiting the NOA1. In the meantime I'm doing a lot of research and would like to ask for your guys' pointers and if there is anything I can/should do now. Is there anything I can prepare?

Thanks

Just maintain some records of communication for ongoing relationship proof... as for right now though, sit back, relax, and enjoy the waiting game. Really don't need to do much until NOA2 from USCIS.

Otherwise if you wish you can make sure to have updated/renewed passport if yours is near expiration. Maybe gather birth certificate copies (2-3 of them)... but again otherwise just relax and wait.

Haha, impatient is my middle name.

Thanks for your inputs though. I suspected there's nothing but to just wait now, I just wanted to check your personal experiences if there was anything you felt like you wish you would have thought of. Thanks! :)

As stated earlier, I recommend that you ensure that you have all the documents that you're going to need later in the process.  I'd find a copy of the K1 instructions from the Swedish Embassy so you can see what you are going to need to bring to the appointment and then have that.  For example if it says you must bring an original birth certificate, but you only have copies because you lost the original, go ahead and start the process for getting another original made.  Do what you can now so you're not rushing later.  Have your fiance review what financial form he's going to have to provide also and maybe get that prepared.  It seems many people are always talking about the I-134 being used for the Embassy interview, but when I read through the Kyiv instructions it actually states that you must bring the I-864, not the I-134.  I'm sending my fiancee here soon to an independent doctor to get tested for TB and start on her vaccinations.  I'm certain she doesn't have it, but in the event that someone does have TB and it is found in the medical evaluation, they must receive months of treatment before coming to the US.  In the completely unlikely situation that she has TB and somehow just hasn't noticed it yet, I'd rather her start the treatment now and have it finished up while waiting as opposed to waiting until just weeks before the interview to find out and then start the treatment.

I'm only a few weeks ahead of you, but through the military I've always learned that you can never be too prepared.  Being unprepared just leads to stress and failure.
