My 10-Yr. Permanent Resident Card arrived in the mail today!!!!! Yippee!!!!! It took over 8 months from the date I submitted my I-751 application to Nebraska SC.

The best, and most surprising, part is that it arrived with NO errors on it, even though my NOA came with my old last name on it. My full name (first, middle and last), A#, birthdate, country, residency date, etc. are all correct.

It looks exactly the same as the Conditional PR card, except the "category" changed from CF1 to IF1.

In exactly 4 months, I will submit my Naturalization application.

Good luck to all those still waiting for their approvals.

So question here...you say it took 8 months for your 10 yr card. While you are waiting to lift conditions, are you in limbo again as before when you filed AOS? By limbo I mean "pending" but no card as before. I guess I'm trying to ask, what is your status between the 2 yr card...filing to lift conditions...and the 10 yr card approved.

Or did I just totally confuse you? :blink:

When you send in your I-751 application (3 months before expiry of the Conditional GC), you will receive an NOA that extends your Permanent Resident status for a year, with work and travel authorization.

When you travel abroad and re-enter the U.S., you need to show them your expired GC and the NOA to prove that you have applied to have the conditions removed.

So, I guess technically, you are in "pending" status again. But, once you have the NOA there's no inconvenience really. I just starated to panic that I wasn't going to get my 10-Yr. GC approval before the year extension was up.

I'm just so pleased I don't have to deal with any errors on the card, like so many others have had to do.

Very happy for you! Is 8 months normal processing time for the conditions to be lifted? That seems like a long time...

Hi Tracy, They sent me the e-mail saying my card was ordered after 6 months and 10 days, (in a prior post i said 7 months by mistake) but like when you are adjusting status, some cases are approved in 2 or 3 months and some other can take more time.

congrats!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
