Hey guys! I'm in Halifax, NS, planning to immigrate to VA to be with my husband. I'm wondering where I can go to find a list of doctors around this area (Halifax)? The USCIS is confusing as hell sometimes, and last I checked, their search function was messed up. =\ Anyway, yeah, where can I find a list of approved doctors who do the medical exam? Also, is there anyone in this area who's been to a doctor here that can give me their opinion on the doctor and let me know exactly what the exam entails? God, I hate going to the doctor. :P Not looking forward to this part at all.

Thanks!

Awesome! Thank you very, very much.

Also, we haven't started yet, so that's why I haven't filled anything in on my timeline. ^^; We're just getting everything together now.

ETA: Where did you get the information from, out of curiosity? I wasn't sure where to look...

Since ur doing K3 or cr-1 (or ir-1) you have a long wait ahead of you!! I had my appt with Dr doane. Very easy and quick. One does the blood work and x-rays at a different facilty down the road. His office is right beside the Wendys on Quinpool (CDn tire is righ there as well)

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

No problem at all!!!!

at the top of the page you'll notice some tabs;

Home Forums News Guides Visa FAQ

and below those....

Gallery~ Downloads ~Example Forms ~Processing Times ~Immigration Timelines ~Embassy Info ~Embassy/USCIS Reviews ~Chat

click on embassy info and then Montreal Consulate

also, if you're considering having your medical done now, you may want to rethink that and wait until you're closer to your interview date. that date and your particular process will vary based on the visa you apply for.

Read the guides , see what applies to your situation and if you need any help , we're all here to help

Good Luck :)

edited to add .......please send Flames a Tim's XL triple cream please :)

Also since you haven't started yet, you can't get your medical until you get "Packet 3" from the consulate. That's after your petition(s) are approved by USCIS.

Good luck! :)

No hurray on the medical. Dr doane didnt require my letter, but I belive another poster did say that he wanted it. Soem have waited like a yr for the interview for K3 or cr-1, so sit back and enjoy the ride! Hopefully the process is a speedy 1 for u!! Like Cutenbergy stated, take ur time and read the guides. many mistakes are made because people are in a hurry and dont read the question, writing is not readable. Ensure there are no empty spaces (use not applicable, none, etc) When in doubt ask here, as well (like Cutenebrgy stated) look at the top of the page, many useful links and use the search feature. 99.9% chance the question has been asked before. The search feature here isnt the greatest, but it works, try rewording things!! And again it is a forum, some people (not me) give great advice, some have no clue what they are talking about and just blab away!! One can't go by how many blue squares or hearts on ehas, because some just spendf there time in the Off topic forum, lol I admittingly know nothing! Two great resources that we have are Neiks ( a Cdn custom border dudette) and Zyggy (ex USA customer border patrol dude) And cutenbergy--Smiley specialist, lol best of luck in the process, as it can be very frustrating. Two people can start out at exact samer time, go through the same offices, but finish at different times!! One can phone Mtl or Vancouver or NVCC, ask the same question to 5 different operators, and get 5 different answers!! Welcome to hell, lol Just kidding, sort of, lol

Where in VA are you going? I'm in Falls Church VA, just outside DC. Best of luck

Oh man, thanks for all the info guys! And I was basically just asking so I'd know who I could go to for the exam when the time comes.

Hey, maybe some of you would be able to help me out with two more little questions I was having trouble with. Posted here, but two of the questions remained unanswered. :(http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65755 Any help from fellow canucks would be appreciated! :)

And flames, I would totally send you a tims coffee if I could. :P That's one nice thing about being back in Canada, anyways... haven't had tims for a year while I was in the US!

ETA: Meadowview, VA is where I'm headed. :) Although we'll probably end up living in Abingdon or Bristol once everything's settled.
