We're finally preparing for the interview. I'm looking at the checklist and we need to bring our child's birth certificate to the embassy even if she's a US citizen and won't be accompanying my husband? Does anyone have any experience with this?? Unfortunately we don't have the original birth certificate so I'm wondering if we have to order a new one. Thank you

If its an Egyptian Birth certificate then definitely get one and have it translated.

It's an American birth certificate...the original was taken one we tried to make her an Egyptian certificate and I ordered a new American birth certificate but I'm just worried it won't arrive in time. She has both birth certificates.

Maybe email the Embassy and ask, my husband took copies of all US documents (my child and I are in the US) and the CO said everything way good although unfortunately put on AP after for the ds5535. I think if you take in your daughters original US Passport (if your in Egypt with your husband) and a copy of her US birth certificate you should be fine.

Thank you! I'll try emailing them and see what they say and hopefully the passport and birth certificate copy should be fine like you're suggesting. Sorry to hear about the AP. Has it been a while? Seriously dreading that possibility

He’s been on AP for almost three months now since sending in the documents. It’s been horrible waiting and not knowing when our daughter and I will see him again. I wouldn’t wish AP on anyone. I hope it all goes smoothly for you, my husband said the officers at the Embassy were really nice. Good luck!!

I agree with you, my husband was out in AP also, nothing missing papers were all good tons of evidence, white slip with administrative processing marked, we are in a month yet but it is pure torture, and if you upset the Cairo embassy, you can expect to be there a very long time :(

I’m pretty sure I upset them, I’ve been contacting them and other departments about an issue I’ve been having (recieved a random persons documents mailed to me). I’m trying to make sure there has been no confusion between that persons case and my husband since both are from Egypt. But no one seems the slightest concern. I find it completely unacceptable that a mix up should happen regarding documents that take so long to get approved and are extremely sensitive.

I am set to go back end of October, and will take in documents of updated evidence of our marriage I made an appointment to go into the embassy in person to check the status if we haven't heard anything by that time. It will have passed the 60 day mark at that point.

I am sorry that you got those papers in the mail.
