Language for Interview

Hello, my fiance and I speak French with one another. He does not speak English very well (or is not very confident in himself). What are the options for languages when completing the interview? Are Darija and English the only options or can he do the interview in French? Would it make any difference if he chose French and not Darija?

Shouldn't make any difference. You may have to really prove to the CO that you as the petitioner can actually speak French and not just use some app or translator program because that would bring a lot of doubt into their minds about your actual ability to communicate. As for speaking in French at the interview, if the embassy has an interpreter there they should be able to provide it; but I may check to make sure one if there that speaks French.

Ah, thanks for the info. I'm actually a French teacher, but how would I prove this? Should my fiance bring something that states my occupation in some way?

Perhaps something like that could suffice. Sometimes, not always, they like to see that you can actually communicate fluently when it isn't in English; but again not always. I'd check with other Morocco members or the embassy itself again about if there is a translator there who speaks French a head of time though.

French is a widely spoken language in Morocco so they should have someone in the embassy that speaks it.

sorry folks it does make a difference for the casa embassy

they will tell him he can interview in native language

but they will deny him/ they want him to say "i will do interview in English"

that embassy expects a person coming to the US  to be able to speak and write in English as they intend to live here

they allow the older parents a visa as that generation is mostly uneducated so native lanuage is ok

but no,  he needs to start studying English

So, should he try to do the interview in English with a translator in case he needs help? He is actually pretty good in English, but doesn't have a lot of confidence.

as said many times on here K1 visa is rarely approved in Morocco / portal and embassy reviews

he can use any language he wants but some of the CR1 refuses were for this very reason

embassy has interpretors

i can see a / i can a deial in your case /get him into  a class to study English

this is not a judgement to your relationship and we have many here taking English classes

but this is something Casa use to deny

for instance the July 2018 charts for approvals is out / there were 8 approved K1 in July

https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Non-Immigrant-Statistics/MonthlyNIVIssuances/JULY 2018 - NIV Issuances by Post and Visa Class.pdf

look under non-immigrant class and issueuances by month and post

there were only 40 CR1 and 16 IR1's approved July 2018

https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Immigrant-Statistics/MonthlyIVIssuances/JULY 2018 - IV Issuances by Post and Visa Class.pdf

as said very hard embassy / check these charts out compared to other embassies

compared to the number of interviews for the this embassy this  is low approval

recently they denied a IR1 to a pregnant woman (means married over 2 years) and her husband was outside the embassy hoping for her visa (September 5th)

As @adil-rafa states. The embassy is going to expect him to know English when he is moving to a predominately English speaking country. I do not think it would be wise to interview in any other language but English. As she stated K1s are rarely approved in Morocco as it is.
