Hello everyone,

I am so confused and I need some guidance.

I am on the AOS waiting line in Houston TX and my initial EAD expired in June 2018. Before my EAD expired, I applied for renewal in Feb 2018 and got a letter of notice in April 2018 which gave me a 180 days extension.

The 180 days extension will expire in a couple of days and still no word on my new EAD, I have called USCIS and they won't say anything helpful.

My question is, should I stop working? If I continue working, will it affect my AOS process in anyway? I have a family to feed and this whole process is so stressful.

Please, I would appreciate any form of guide on what to do from this wonderful community.

180 days from June 1 is November 28, 2018. So I dont think you are calculating correctly. Anyway if your EAD expires you do not have work auth any more. Unauth work is forgiven for spouses of USCs but in no way gives you permission to work without auth. Also it is the employers responsibility and they will be fined if they let someone work w/o auth documents. Some places are very slow to ask for updated work docs some are very quick. The correct thing to do is to stop working when it expires and make arrangements with the employer for some time off.

Agreed with the above. Also, you can apply for an expedite using your current job (under the "severe financial loss" provision) + possible family situation.
