Entering US as crew after receiving CR1

Hi everyone, I called the embassy regarding my issue and got a canned and not very helfpul answer. I hope someone can share their insight or experience regarding my concern.

I received my CR1 in July. The US embassy cancelled my B1/B2 visa, but I still have my C1/D.

I am a pilot and I have a flight to the US on September 30 as a crew member. It will also be my first time entering the US since I received my CR1 visa

Which visa am I supposed to use? CR1 or C1/D?

I’m not aware if immigrant crew members travel using their green cards or if they are still required to have crew visas for this purpose.

In case you’d like to know the response of the embassy, I was told to “use the appropriate visa for my travel”.

Thank you!

Enter as CR1. Your immigrant status will most likely be flagged at CBP because of your CR1. I’m not familiar with C1D, but it is my understanding that all non immigrant visas or VWP are canceled and/void after being issued an immigrant visa.

Use the immigrant visa...there's no good reason not to really. The endorsed visa at POE acts as a green card for 1 year.

Once you enter with the CR1 there is no need for the C1/D; see this thread: https://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1398185

Just a reminder, after the CR1 entry you'll be a LPR, thus you'll be expected to spend the majority of the time in the US (there are no exact numbers or percentages).

If you have a sealed envelope bring it.  Either way, just explain when you show your passport and they'll handle things from there.
