B2 visa journey

Good evening. .I am a Ghanaian  and i want to apply for a tourist visa to the United States..I would want to know the required documents that I must have in order to proceed..I already have a passport, birth cert..I have a family in the state  who is willing  to send me an invite. I completed university this year and currently doing my national service as a teacher.

Unfortunately, a letter from family in the state will actually HURT your chances of a visa. If they ask at your interview, be HONEST that you are visiting family in the US. I would NOT bring that letter.

YOU need to show proof that you have TIES TO YOUR COUNTRY and that you will RETURN to your country. What can HELP (not guaranteed) are things such as: letters from employers, leases/mortgages, car payments, etc.

Like above, honestly no one from the US side can help much as it is your duty to show you can pay for the trip and support yourself while in the US. They don't even have to look at anything you take to show them even honestly.  As mentioned other things like work, property, and other strong ties to home are the thing they want. The embassy always assumes you aren't just planning to visit and your duty is to prove to them you plan on returning after the trip.

08/15/2014 : Met Online

06/30/2016 : I-129F Packet Sent

11/08/2016 : Interview - APPROVED!

11/23/2016 : POE - Dallas, Texas

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

 

02/03/2017 - Married 

02/24/2017 - AOS packet sent

06/01/2017 - EAD/AP Combo Card Received in mail

12/06/2017 - I-485 Approved

12/14/2017 - Green Card Received in mail - No Interview
