Dear All,

I just read someones post here regarding details in birth certificate and they mentioned that they got an RFE because full format birth certificate was required .

I am little worried about my birth certificate which I have from a small town (from india) and it has basic details mentioned in it like

name, place, time of birth, parents name and registration number

as I was born at home so no hospital name is mentioned instead the name of place where i was born is mentioned.

This is original certificate , we all get same this kind of certificate thr at my home town .

I have attached an edited screen shot of my orignal birth certificate...could you pls let me know if this format is fine or what else i can do if its not fine?

Really at this point since you are very close in getting your I-129F looked at, you should wait and see if they issue you a RFE. If they do issue a RFE it will explain what they want from you. Not real sure how they view foreign birth certificates, but the main thing is make sure it is translated to English. Nothing you can do at this point just wait for the RFE (if you get one) it will tell you exactly what they want.

Your birth certificate will only be required at your interview in the embassy/ consulate. I suggest you post this in your country’s portal as people there are familiar with this issue.

no need for translations at that time if the document is either in the original language of the embassy you’re attending or if it’s english.

a translation will be needed later on for aos

Yes I did look at it and it does look official, but I am not the one who will rule on it so I can't really say what they will think about it. It does have a seal so I think you will be alright. They see many birth certificates there from many countries so I'm sure you'll be OK. If not they will let you know. I assumed you were the petitioner, if you are the beneficiary your birth certificate won't be needed until your interview

Thank you so much for your reply ! I am beneficiary  but we have submitted both our birth certificates as well in I129 F petition package and I am also thinking as per interview prospective .

Is your Birthday is the same on your Passport, Birth certificate and any other places of your petition(s)? If so, you have to work around that date only.

Your posted birth certificate seems to be genuine with the required details. Please post your RFE letter(by blocking the identification information etc). I dont see what does the RFE mean by Full format Birth certificate.

If we are clear about what legally required birth details are missing from your current valid birth certificate.

This is fine, by long form they mean one that includes the parents’ details as well (the short form only has child name and place of birth).

Ahh... Thanks a lot! thats much relief :)

First of all, you need to relax and stop considering the roof is falling on your head.

Need for having Hospital name on a BC(Birth Certificate) is not legally required. But if the legally required information is not present in a BC, USCIS tries to find closest and acceptable alternative information.

Dont read too much online content when you are worried. Enjoy your rest of the weekend and relax 🙂 you will be fine.
