Question about place of marriage

For my wife's previous marriage, they held the ceremony in Okinawa, and the marriage certificate paperwork was filed in Nagoya, so what place should I put for the place of marriage.

ceremony means nothing in japan. Official marriage can only happen by filing the paper work.

 

So if previous marriage happened in japan under Japanese law:

Wherever she got her 結婚受理証明書  would be the right place. Basically the Ward office she took the papers to, which I assume is Nagoya as you said filed.

 

her old 婚姻届 would have the place.
