I-751 Confusion

Hello, my wife recently applied for the I-751 application (Came here on K1 Visa 2 years ago). We just received in the mail from USCIS granting her conditional resident status for 18 months from the expiration date on her green card. So basically, her green card expires in November and I read on USCIS she cannot renew her green card until she has the conditions removed. So how can she travel and work when her green card says it expires in November? I'm in a panic about this. Can someone clarify, does she need to do anything else so her green card doesn't expire or since they granted her an extension with conditions she has to wait until they process the I-751 to remove with conditions?

First relax there’s no need to panic. You’re confusing the whole process of the removal of conditions. The extension letter she will receive will extend her permanent resident status for another 18 months from the expiration date of her green card while her I-751 is being adjudicated. She can use this extension letter together with her expired green card as proof of permanent residency for work and travel purposes. If by any chance USCIS has not still adjudicated her I-751 after 18 months ( cam likely happen depending on her service center), her status will still be valid but she will need to schedule an infopass appointment to have her passport stamped with an I-551 (aka green card stamp). She remains a permanent resident until her petition is adjudicated even if it takes 20 years.
