Hello,

We are starting to fill the I-129F form for the K1 visa with my fiancé.

One of the question is : in which country/city will we go the  US ambassy. I am french but I am leaving and working in the UK since 3 years now.

Do I need to go to the US ambassy in Paris or London?

I am just afraid that doctor in the UK won't be able to understand my vaccination record (from France) and re-do vaccin I dont really need.

Thank you,

Laura

Typically they'll send your case to the consulate that covers the beneficiary's (that's you) current legal residence regardless of what you put on the form. Since you've been in the UK for 3 years, that's London. If that's not what you want, you can search other threads for how to request a transfer.

Hey ! I am French living in the UK as well. I had my medical 2weeks ago and brought my « carnet de santé » for the vaccination records and they were completely fine with it :) the lady at Knightsbridge that went through  my vaccination was lovely and said she was used to the French vaccination record and could read it eyes closed 😅

So far my process has been going really smooth :)

You can choose the embassy having jurisdiction over your current legal residence or the embassy of your nationality.   The default is the embassy covering your residence

YMMV

Hello @veeandzack, I am just coming back on an old message thread 😊 I was wondering if you had to translate your carnet de santé, medical or police report from France for the medical and interview? If yes, which service did you use?

Hope you got to the USA ok!

Thank you!

Hey ! I did not need to translate my Carnet de santé. i had to bring a letter in English that was explaining some health issue I had when I was younger. Police report and birth certificate must be translated, I’m trying to think but can’t remember who translated my documents. But most likely you can go get it done anywhere, I googled a company that provided certified  translation.

Thank you very much for your help!

I may have to do a letter like you to explain a hospital stay when I was younger. Did a doctor in the UK write yours?

I had my doctor from France writing one in English ( that was my GP since I was 5 so he knew me well and could explain it easily ) and then I took this letter to my GP in the UK we had like a mental health appointment where she asked me questions about what happened etc and wrote a letter saying that I was good etc etc. Depending on what your health issue was, you might need the letter to say “ not a threat to herself or others”. That’s only if you had something like depression, self harm etc.

But i will say this : don’t over think it or stress about it, the medical exam is easy and everybody is so nice & helpful.
