Hi all,

I’m adjusting from my K1 Visa. I’ve read lots of treads and seen mixed information about whether or not I need to get a new medical done in the US before the AOS interview.  I wondered if anyone has any recent experience?

I had my medical done in the UK on 28th April 2018 and didn’t need any further vaccinations etc. and at the time they told me at the medical that it would be fine for the AOS part too.

I came to the US in May 2018, married in June, submitted AOS docs in July, did biometrics in August, now I’ve just received my AOS interview date of 23rd October 2018.

All I have is the DS-3025 worksheet from my London medical. I sent a copy of this this with my AOS packet.

My interview letter says “You must bring the following with you:....

2) A completed medical examination (form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted).

To me, since the interview will be within 7months of the medical the DS-3025 should still be valid. But I’ve read some contradicting things. I don’t want an RFE at this final hurdle so should I just get a new medical and an I-693 done in the next couple of weeks and just pay the money? Or have people had good luck using the DS-3025?

Thank you in advance!!

It's totally up to your officer and what he asks for. They vary so much in knowledge across the country is why so many experiences. Why does a RFE bother you?  You meet face to face with a guy. You show him all shots were completed. You pull out printouts from USCIS handbook and show him where it says they are supposed to look and see if the shots were given. If that fails, then you go spend 350 quid on a new medical exam. You send it straight back to that guy in the local office and done. It's not like you get in a nine month queue. Will your daily life be significantly different if it take 2-3 extra weeks?

That is a generic form. Most people interviewing for adjustment of status are not K1s and did not have a medical and a signed off shot form. "Unless already submitted".....you already submitted what is acceptable for a K1, an exception to the general AOS requirements for the masses.

It's really your choice. I'm kind of a "wait and see" guy over blowing money for just in case.
