Well I guess the Left Wing needs to keep funneling money to their paid protestors to make it seem like they have such a large presence. That will really scare people in to action won't it?

All that one can do in reaction to that is to shake one's head in disbelief...

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Nobody with a brain is "fuming" at Democrat leaders over Kavanaugh, there is nothing they can do to stop his nomination.

Democrats with a brain may still be fuming that more Dems didn't come out and vote Nov 2016, that was the only time to stop GOP SCOTUS appointments.

And obviously whenever Dems regain the Senate, if we have a GOP president, they will never hold a vote for another Republican SCOTUS pick, after the Garland incident. For the rest of the Republic, we will only have Supreme Court appointments confirmed if the same party controls both the Senate and the Executive.

And likely, we will see court stacking from one side or the other. I put the odds that SCOTUS stays at 9 members over the next two decades at about 10%.

Clearly politics is too scorched earth now for those sort of norms not to be broken.

The Senate is supposed to consider a nominee's "fitness to serve" only.

Instead, they're accusing this one of plotting advance votes, or presuming which way he'll vote, on cases that don't even exist, and condemning him on the basis of their premeditated assumptions.

What exactly do you find so extreme? And how come you consider Norway not be socialist, but the left in the United States arguing for Norwegian style socialism to be " extreme left? Cognitive dissonance anyone?

It’s very simple.  Because Norway ISN’T socialist.  Norway has more billionaires per capita than the US does.  The folks in the US who are crying out in support of Nordic socialism are simply ignorant, and hoping the grass on the other side is greener than what they currently have (yet seem unwilling to work harder for).

They have a market economy, with strong government support and unions. They also have an abundance of natural resources, as well as Protestant work ethics.

Yes, all thanks to socialism. I understand the self serving need to pretend otherwise, but let's get real. They are not fooling anyone.

Well, the internet says they are not a socialist economy.  As do the members here on CEHST who are from there.  Guess they must all be wrong eh?  Cuz you said so.

Well if the internet says it, then who could argue with that? I'm sorry I have listened to Republicans claim for years now that a government run health care system is socialism, but now suddenly, Norway where they have an actual government run health care system, you guys now want to pretend that there is no socialism in Norway.

Don't tell me man.  Tell the residents who have patiently explained to us that it is not.  I've never lived there.

One Idea, Multiple Forms

The word “socialism” is perhaps most associated with countries such as the former Soviet Union and China under Mao Zedong, along with present-day Cuba and North Korea. These economies conjure the idea of totalitarian leaders and public ownership of virtually all productive resources.

However, other parts of the world sometimes use the same term to describe very different systems. For instance, the main Scandinavian economies – Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland – are often referred to as “social democracies” or simply “socialist.” But rather than the government running the entire economy, such countries balance market competition with robust social safety nets. That means nearly universal health care and laws that rigorously protect worker rights.

Even in decidedly capitalist countries such as the United States, some services are thought too important to leave to the marketplace alone. Consequently, the government provides unemployment benefits, social security and health insurance for seniors and low-income earners. It’s also the main provider of elementary and secondary education.
