I wanted to send additional information I think I may have forgot and so far we only got the Receipt number to avoid a RFE letter.    Can I simply reference the Receipt # or do I have to wait for a case # to send additional information?

No. You cannot send anything extra at this point. They will not match those new documents to your case.

You have to wait for RFE for any additional documents.

If documents were vital for the petition, it will be denied.

I don't remember putting How we met.   I'll just send a letter explaining how we met.  Not sure if that is considered vital or not to deny.

I did the same thing, I missed very vital information and I sent it in a week after they received the initial petition. I put my receipt number with it and sent it via FedEx signature and from that day have made it my mission to let them know it was sent, to attach to my file and even went to an info pass appt. Long story short Im almost certain they attached it, last thing i did was speak to a tier 2 officer who sent the service center an email to attach the documents. I don't think they will or can deny after all of the calls, the visit to uscis and documentation of my continuous effort to make sure that it was a mistake and please attach.

You don’t remember?  Did you make a copy of the application and all the documents sent with it?  Very important information to have as you’ll need it later on.

Nope I don't remember.   Nope no copy.  Can't dwell on what I should have done.     I just need make sure they have that information.   Some of the PDF fields didn't allow you t to type in the fields which stinks so I had to write in the field by hand.  Just not sure if I missed that field or not.    Our meeting wasn't forgetable so its not like it would be a trick question for us later on.  LOL    I just want to make sure they have the simple answer.   Thats all.  Send it now or later.

This is a long and strenuous journey and it has just started for you two. Some good advice is to check, double check, and triple check everything you submit and always make copies for your records. If you have questions about anything, someone should be able to help. As @Roel suggested, wait for your RFE. Roel is one of the best!

You don't have to put *how* you met.  We didn't.   We simply listed the dates of our many visits, and provided passport stamps as primary evidence.

Also, long story, but we sent in documents pertaining to two past divorces five months after filing; a divorce absolute and a full divorce decree.   The documents originally sent in with the petition contained only a certified copy of a divorce certificate and a letter from a foreign court stating that the decree absolute had been located (and the date of the divorce).

We sent it with a copy of the NOA1, and a cover letter very clearly explaining the nature of the documents.

Approved with no RFE in 185 days.

The documents I provided along with a cover letter and the NOA1 were not accepted in my case, and I needed to wait for an RFE. YMMV. Generally, they won't take new information unless requested.
