Medical/fingerprints scheduling SDO

Hello. I mailed the packet to NVC yesterday. My wife and I have a question. When we reach that point, will she schedule her medical and fingerprints screenings in Santo Domingo or does the embassy schedule them?

Second: Does the embassy generally allow the spouse petitioner to attend the interview?

Thanks for your insights as we plan.

I can't speak specifically about DR, but generally, after you are informed of the interview date, the spouse must scheduled her own medical exam using a specific consulate approved physician(s).

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Hello again!

I can speak for Colombia but have a general understanding that you must do it yourself.

As soon as i got interview date i was instructed to book my own medical and biometrics appointment.

Make sure you tell the approved physician the date of your wife's interview and ask them how long they'll take to return you the sealed envelope with results.

When i booked my Biometrics appointment, i was also able to select DHL Passport Pick-up location. Not sure if you can for DR as well.

If you're not already in it, i urge you to join this thread as there's people on the same process as you whether waiting for CC or interview date!

For the Dominican Republic you must schedule your own medical exam, at one of the two approved facilities. I believe they are only open until 11am, and they do accept walk-ins.  You must have your letter with your interview date in order to do your medical exam.  The clinic will send the results to the embassy.

And yes, the spouse is allowed to attend the interview. They encourage it.
