Hello everyone, I am wondering if any one knows how to mitigate the risk of being denied a K1 Visa in case of significant age Difference? The difference between me and my fiance is about 22 years. I have heard that at interview the application may be denied just because of significant age difference. Our relationship is genuine- but we dont know what can we provide to prove that the relationship is genuine. We have submitted the proof of our meeting and also several picture of our engagement.

Alas you have already submitted your I-129F which would have been the ideal time to frontload the application by providing proof.  You are now going to have to try to have proof at the interview which may or likely will not be looked at.  Not sure if there is a way to submit further proof.   If the USC is male and the foreign future spouse is female it will be much easier than the other way around.   You generally would want to submit evidence of being together,  ideally more than once.  Perhaps you could include some relevant sections of chat logs as well where you discussed the age difference honestly.   Pictures with dates with Family is good also.   Multiple visits and time spent together is a good thing as well..  Good Luck

Thanks for the input. I have submitted pictures- letters from both our families with signature as their approval for this relationship. Also have submitted the statement about me and my fiance's discussion about our age difference. my indian fiance is the female one and she is the young one. Due to my work schedule I can not really visit multiple times. The point is we are in genuine relationship. My fiance was previously married and has a child. Her husband died in a brutal accident two years after their marriage. I have applied for k1 mainly because in india you must stay for 30 days to get married legally, my work schedule will not allow me to stay there for 30 days. at this point i am seeking any assistance from any one who can suggest what else can i do? IF the relationship is genuine what proof does it need?

The more visits in person, the better. How many times you visited? If only once, then it might be an issue.

Just once! cant afford to go and visit. there is significant amount of money involved  for visiting. that is why trying to bring her here and get married.

I'd advice to find money and go visit. It might be hard to get approved with this little facetime - how long was your visit? Did you meet her friends? Her family? this is all important.

Yes, I met her family- and they met my family. We had an engagement ceremony too. We have submitted the picture of the ceremony too.

Oh uh.

Well. That was a mistake.

If that ceremony looked even remotely like a wedding ceremony, then there is a chance the K1 visa will be denied. It happened before, many times.

Oh no... I sincerely hope that this will not mess things up for you.

What to an American can look just like a simple engagement party can be something far more binding in a different culture. Even without an official document or the presence of a priest or official, a simple ceremony can be a binding marriage in some cultures.  Again, not familiar with India, but I'd advise you to go look at the regional forums here and see if this could cause a problem. Unfortunately there's such a thing as being too married for a K1 but not married enough for a CR1.

I hope and pray this will go smoothly for you.

Honestly, if I were you I'd visit again and get married and apply for a CR1 spouse visa.

With everything you said, there is a possibility of your K1 getting denied.
