My wife's CR-1 Interview in Montreal was approved on Tuesday and her passport is in the mail. We plan to move her this weekend from Windsor, ON to Detroit, MI.

Have heard rumors that you are required to move all belongings in one shot and that during this one shot, duties will not be assessed. Is there any truth to this? Or are we able to move her stuff in spurts?  We have the required information to import her vehicle, but I am curious about what happens when we go to sell it. Will we be able to sell this back in Windsor as its a canadian vehicle with km/hr ect?

The other question I was hoping someone could help answer is regarding all of the documents she will need to apply for once over and the order in which to do them. We completed the electronic DS-260 for the NVC, which according to the Social Security website, means that her SSN will automatically be processed and mailed to the address we put onto the DS-260, is this correct? I know she can't apply for really anything else like a license ect without that SSN.

You do not have to move everything at one time.  Her SS card should be mailed to her within a few weeks of entry to the US.

She has 10 years to move her items duty free. You are supposed to own the items for 1 year before immigration to be able to move them.  You have 1 year to import a car.  You need to have the car paid for and it needs to be okay to import before you can do so.

If the SSN isn't sent to her within 2 weeks she can go to the SSA office an apply for one.  Check your state DMV to find out how long before she has to transfer her license or if she has to start out from scratch.  Some states will let you just get a new license if you have a Canadian license, and others will not.

Make sure she has all CCTB and GST rebate cheques cancelled before her move.  They will send them to her in the USA or do direct deposit and since she will not be a Canadian resident, she is no longer eligible for them.  Get her on health insurance asap.  Immigration most often can be considered a qualifying event because she is losing her health insurance due to the move.
