But clearly this administration loves to be non transparent, this just being one example.

You’re right, I don’t know what his returns say.  And it’s not my place to know.  Nor yours.  Nor anyone’s in the USA, unless we opt to share them.  Even federal law protects them, so there must be a valid reason for it, eh?  

I am not afraid of being wrong.  I cannot be wrong in this case, because I said I don’t care to know.  If Trump suddenly divulged his returns today, I would never look.  Just as I did not look at anyone else’s.  You yourself said you wouldn’t look... so why does it matter?  Not sure what you mean about turning a blind eye to anything.  All I am defending is his right to keep his returns private.  In accordance with the law.  How am I wrong, or how is that being blind?  You’re not making sense Keith.

 

Show me where Trump has said he doesn’t want African immigrants.  Direct quote, not some poorly-worded comments about #&$^-hole countries.

I am pretty savvy on taxes, been doing my own for almost 4 years now.  So let me tell you: Nothing would be made more transparent.  The federal government via the IRS, already knows all they need to about his income and taxes.  If there had been anything highly illegal in them, he would not have been vetted to be president.  

I get that you think it would make him more “transparent” by opening them to public view.  What it would really do, though, is allow millions of Americans to peruse his returns and whine about why he makes so much more than they do.  That’s it.  Wouldn’t change a thing about him, his presidency, nor his character.  All it would do is give you one less thing to argue about on CEHST.  (And as an argument goes, it is pretty weak, you should probably find something with more meat on the bone so we can all have a chew.).

Then why not defer to the tax experts at the IRS and trust that if anything was out of place they would find it?

Yeah, opening things to public view is litterally the definition of being transparent. It's been customary up until this president who just so happens to have all his people sign NDAs to work with him. 

 

Clearly Trump  does not value transparency.

Tax expert in the IRS aren't allowed to show his returns or the results of his ongoing audits.

Actually if they find illegal activity not only can they make it public but they are obligated to in the form of a criminal complaint.

It's not just about illegal activity.

I think I've already said it before that its not illegal to owe the IRS money. 

 

Its has more to do with ethics and settling conflicts of interests. That's why presidents should have transparency. Jimmy Carter sold his peanut farm to prevent such things from occuring.
