Hello, im Stephanie from Indonesia..

I want to ask, about k1 filer.. My fiance applied for K1 visa and we got NOA1 on June 13rd 2018,but our name doesn't register in K1 filer on that date.. Is that normal? Or something happens? Because when i check my status is still received.

Thank you

What do you mean k1 filler on that date? Where?

If your status is "received" then it's fine. You won't get any change of status for at least few more months.

You have to create and update your own timeline.

Visajourney have nothing to do with USCIS and their systems lol. Its just a public forum and everything regarding your profile is up to you to file up.

What kind of criminal record? It might affect the process in a huge way. Make sure you obtain all the documents from the cases and know all the details. You WILL be questioned about them at the interview (I’m speaking from experience).

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Well he was a bad boy and alcoholic before.. He even been in jail coz theft case and most of them are traffic cases.

He wrote for addendum that explained why he did it and how's his condition now.

We get help by lawyer to filling all the criminal records..our paperwork like 200 pages 😂

I think I'm ready if they gonna ask me about it, my fiance has been explained all to me.

God bless

Ok, my husband’s case was theft also and he served time in prison. I don’t know why you put a laughing face there - a 200-page criminal record is no laughing matter. Has he received treatment for his alcohol abuse? There is a burden on the embassy that interviews you to ensure that you are fully aware of what you are getting into and that they are satisfied your safety is not at risk.

How recent are his convictions?

Oh no no.. 200pages combine with visa paperwork also..

Ofc, he's active member of AA community and has been sober for 3 years..

I think he's been in jail around 2015 for like 1 year.

Sorry, it hardly means anything. I am divorced after living 19 years with a person who had issues with alcohol abuse well before 1998 when we first met and married (because I believed we will overcome his alcohol abuse). The only thing I can say that our kids were born during his sober times, which were a few and lasted several years in a row. But enough is enough and here I am reconciled with an old sweetheart and filing for a K1/K2. One can never know what a life with an (ex)alcoholic will be, and relying on a person with a proven history of substance abuse to the extent that she is going to leave everything behind and start her life from scratch in a totally new country is an extremely risky venture. By the way, my ex was totally law obedient, a well-off businessman, a loving father when sober and never violent when drunk. However, he was totally irresponsible when not sober and could harm himself or neglect our kids.

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope the OP takes heed. Many alcoholics are highly functioning adults during their sober periods - they hold good jobs and many people who didn't know about their alcohol abuse would be surprised if they found out they were an alcoholic. It's a true Jekyll and Hyde story. Moreover, I don't think anyone is ever an ex-alcoholic. They are always an alcoholic but just one drink away from it manifesting itself.

You think? For “like” 1 year? Girl, you need to know all the dates, places, sentence length, etc. If he went to jail for a year in 2015 he’s only been out for 2 years. How many times have you met? Substance abuse is a long road to recovery. Are you truly prepared for this?

You don’t have to send much with the I-129F - just proof of his citizenship, proof you’ve met once in the last two years, proof your previous marriages ended lawfully (if applicable) and a statement that you intend to marry within 90 days. That’s a couple of pages. So if he sent 200 pages that’s one heck of a criminal record.

He sent me all the criminal records, but i don't read them one by one... i admit that's too much, im shocked before because of this.

I think i need to take time and read his criminal record one by one.

And i met him one time last August and he'll visit me again this November.

Yes substance abuse is really hard, he told me that he can't smell any alcohol ever or it'll be trigger for him.

But so far he's active with AA community, close with God and also his family, many of his friends passed away due to alcoholism and drugs.. He experience many hard moments of this, so he never want to be back to his old self. God willing, he'll stay sober forever.
