Where I came from, there were two categories of what we called Indian restaurants. The first is the Hindu vegetarian (yummy) where you can get the udapi and puri with potato curry and masala dosai. The second kind served Islamic food (I say islamic ostensibly because of the islamic symbols like Koranic verses in Arabic on the walls etc). It is in these muslim Indian restaurants that one could get paratha and biryani with meat . But one distictive dish I recall is the mountain oysters but called "fighting ball" there in vindaloo curry and eaten with multi layered paratha. (Mouth watrs as I write ..)

This must be the same thing that my wife sent me at work the other day. There was a quote in there about them tasting like "Chicken Nuggets". That in itself would put me right off fast food (if I needed any other convincing of course).

"Mountain oysters" are very common in the mid west. They even have festivals that feature them. I never liked them but I know a lot of people that do.
