I-824 taking much longer than processing times

Hi all,

Looking for advice. My attorney filed I-824 back in November 2017 based on my husband getting his I-485 approved, followed to join him. In June I talked to uscis and they said my case was approved back in February, nothing online was updated, nor a letter was mailed. The agent notified me that she will transfer me to a level 2 officer to provide a fax number and get my approval letter. I have not been able to speak to a.level 2 officer, after I leave my I formation for a call back. Long story short, I involved my attorney who informed me that the agent has apparently made a mistake and my case is still pending, she submitted a request for outside processing times and a generic letter was mailed. The attorney also stopped communicating with me. I am asking if anyone can advise me on possible steps I can take? I truly appreciate any input!

Keep calling USCIS for a tier 2. The call backs take a few hours but they always call back. Make sure your phone is working properly.

Thank you, TNJ17! I did 4 times, left a message for a call back, 0 response. My attorney then apparently talked to them and this is when we received the generic response, that uscis is working on your case and we apologize for taking longer. I will keep trying...

That is the standard customer service representative answer you will always get unless you speak to an actual immigration officer. I suggest calling early in the morning or close to closing time.

Thank you for your response! Truly appreciate it. I have tried it, believe me. The lawyer suggested I should stop inquiring as it takes much longer for them to process my case. Is there any truth to that statement, not sure.

There is no truth to that statement at all. If you still continue to have difficulties getting anywhere I suggest you contact your congressman and ask them to submit an inquiry for you. Things run a lot faster when you get the help of a congressman.

Great to know! Thank you so much for your time and kind responses. I will take action into my own hands. I appreciate it!
