Can travel outside the USA with a combo after overstaying?

Well it is a well known fact that the only people who are guaranteed entry into the US are US citizens. So even being a green card holder doesn't guarantee entry.

The risk with AP is that your AoS will be denied while you are abroad. But that is unlikely and uncommon. So I personally don't know why people get so worried. If they didn't want people with overstay history to use AP and leave during AoS, they would not issue it to them at all. People with overstay history have used AP and came back perfectly fine. And if you're that paranoid, then just don't leave.

Like above, there is never a guarantee of re-entry other than to US citizens. That being said, since they issued you AP, you should be fine and the previous overstay shouldn't have any bearing on whether you get re-entry or not. That being said, if you're worried or concerned about it, just don't go anywhere.
