Sorry haha I’m so concentrated on him getting his visa. I meant passport. That’s giving me some hope but it’s honestly so depressing having to wait without any updates of any sort.

Well, It certainly is depressing and hopefully it ends very soon. I just sent an email to my congresswoman and see if she can help me.

My wife had her interview in Kabul on December 3, 2017. Her case has been under administrative since then. We have had several updates since the interview that weren't due to our correspondence - the latest update being on December 5, 2018. There is really nothing you can do to expedite or waive the administrative process. Not even your state senator or congressman/woman can help you. The only option you have is to be patient and wait until the AP is complete. It is hard and frustrating to wait a long time to be reunited to your loved one, but in the eyes of the government, national security is more important than feeling of the visa applicants. Based on my correspondence with my state senator's office, I have received the following explanation as to why the administrative processing takes a long time:

Once the visa applicant is interviewed at the Consulate, the Consulate sends the case to the Department of State for further review. The State Department then sends the case to several other federal agencies to investigate. The Consulate overseas cannot adjudicate the visa until the State Department turns the case back over to them. And the State Department cannot turn the case over to the Consulate until all other federal agencies complete their investigations.

Hi Ali, any update on your wife’s visa? Thank you!

Hi Ali, thank you, and hope she gets her visa very soon and my wife as well.

zara,

I would recommend you wait for the interview letter, that letter will tell you what you need bring for your interview and what document you need before the interview, and as far as I know for Afghan applicants police certificate is not needed.
