My wife had her interview in Kabul on December 3, 2017. Her case has been under administrative since then. We have had several updates since the interview that weren't due to our correspondence - the latest update being on December 5, 2018. There is really nothing you can do to expedite or waive the administrative process. Not even your state senator or congressman/woman can help you. The only option you have is to be patient and wait until the AP is complete. It is hard and frustrating to wait a long time to be reunited to your loved one, but in the eyes of the government, national security is more important than feeling of the visa applicants. Based on my correspondence with my state senator's office, I have received the following explanation as to why the administrative processing takes a long time:

Once the visa applicant is interviewed at the Consulate, the Consulate sends the case to the Department of State for further review. The State Department then sends the case to several other federal agencies to investigate. The Consulate overseas cannot adjudicate the visa until the State Department turns the case back over to them. And the State Department cannot turn the case over to the Consulate until all other federal agencies complete their investigations.

My husband is in Kabul and has been in AP for 14 months now. It really sucks!

Did your husband get his visa or have you received  any updates from the embassy? My fiancé is also in Kabul and we have been in AP for almost 9 months. The CEAC website shows that the embassy rarely updates my case and the last few months it has only been updated if my fiancé or I email the embassy which is frustrating.

No not yet still waiting for his interview I thought fiancé visa go very faster than spouse visa don’t worry inshallah everything will go fast. I think you can call Afghanistan’s embassy and ask them about that. Keep update

Hello everyone. My wife had her interview on Dec 16 in Kabul . She was given a yellow slip with AP marked on it. However when I check her case on CEAC website it still doesn't say that her case is in AP, will that show up there later ?Can someone tell me where to find her case updates on her CEAC account page? I don't see any date there, it only mentions on top right side:

CASE NUMBER:

VISA CLASS:

YOUR CASE IS CURRENTLY AT:

FOREIGN STATE OF CHARGEABILITY:

INTERVIEW LOCATION:

PRIORITY DATE:

Good luck to everyone
Thank you .

Hi everyone! My husband had his interview towards the end of September 2018 and got AP. The only update we’ve gotten when we check on CEAC is from 10/29. They did take his passport at the embassy which gives me some hope. Other than that I’ve emailed them multiple times and gotten no respond and my husband has called but they don’t answer. Do you think him going to the embassy will make a difference? I know a couple who’s wife had an interview around the same time as my husbands who got their visa and are on the way to coming... any updates from you guys?

Hi , my wife visa is under AP, since July 2018 ,But they always reply to my emails. Check their website and see if you have the right email address, it’s kabuliv@state.gov I think.

Hi Tariq! I’ve been emailing them for a month now and they haven’t been responding. My husband’s been waiting in AP since September and they have his visa but still no updates or anything. It’s frustrating because someone else who had an interview the same time as him and got AP is on their way but he’s still waiting.

Well, it depends on case to cases and the person who interview them, I know it’s frustrating, because I am waiting for my wife’s visa too and it’s been 6 months after the interview,  21 months since we filled and we still don’t know how long more we have to wait. We just need to wait and be hopeful and that’s all we can do for now I think.

You said they have his visa, do you mean his passport or visa?
