Petitioner with k1 applicant not allowed in USEM?

Hi everyone, my Fiancé will be having her interview at USEM soon. I was naturalized through the military but have not applied for US passport yet and since it was a sudden decision there is simply no time left to process one and I will be traveling with my Philippine passport instead. So i asked my Fiancé to call the USEM hotline to ask what kind of identification they would require for me to enter the embassy but upon calling ,they informed her that i, as petitioner, would not be allowed inside the embassy because the appointment is only under her name. Now we're confused if this is true because we've seen several thread here that tells their petitioner accompanied them just fine on the interview. Is there anything I'm missing here? Were we misinformed or is there a step that we need to accomplish for me to be allowed inside the embassy with her? Also, if anyone knows, aside from a US passport, what can i bring to be allowed inside the embassy with her?

As a US citizen, you are required by law to use a US passport to leave and enter the US.  You need to look into expedited ways of applying for a passport.

Some Embassies allow petitioners, some don't.  Depends on a lot of factors.

You should be allowed to enter with naturalization papers. US citizens are allowed in but if you can't prove that you are a USC all bets are off.

But I’m wondering if you had to denounce your Filipino citizenshipwhen you became American? (Not sure if they allow dual citizenship) my reason for this question is to first see if your Filipino passport is even valid. My other thought was your military ID should also be considered a valid proof of identity as well as your naturalization certificate.

USEM generally allows the petitioner at the embassy, and even at the window.

As noted above, what's the plan for returning to the US? You need a valid travel document to be ticketed and boarded.

And USCs are required to use US passports to enter the US. It's not that they would deny you without one so long as you can prove you're a USC...but technically USCs need this.

Relieved with all of your replies! Seems like my Fiancé was misinformed by the USEM hotline when they told her i wouldn't be able to enter because I wasn't included in the appointment. Thank you all for your help! Will look into expedite services of passport if time allows and if not, will push my luck with the military id or naturalization papers as @Luckycuds and @Greenbaum suggested. Thanks again!

You will create MANY issues trying to re-enter the USA using a Philippine passport, (without a valid visa)

USC by law MUST exit and enter the USA using a U.S. passport.

1. U.S. Citizens

U.S. citizens must possess a valid U.S. passport to depart from or enter the United States. 1 However, this passport requirement has not applied to U.S. citizens who depart from or enter the United States from within the Western Hemisphere other than from Cuba. 2 United States citizens have been required to satisfy the inspecting officers of their identities and citizenship. Accordingly, U.S. citizens have not been required to present a valid passport when entering the United States by air from within the Western Hemisphere other than Cuba. 3

As for the petitioner being at the interview with the beneficiary .. NO PROBLEM.   With me the embassy asked for no ID, and I did carry my passport, just in case.  (you being Filipino may cause the embassy to ask)    Yes.. you were misinformed by the call center employee.

With naturalization, you lost your Philippine citizenship.  Unless you completed the dual citizenship process,  you are NOT a dual citizen .. which means your Philippine passport is invalid.     And you must apply for a new Philippine passport.

Not really.

1.  USC are required by law to enter and exit the USA with a U.S. passport.

2.  He is a naturalized USC, and with that he lost his Philippine citzenship, thus his old passport is invalid.

3.  He must complete the dual citizenship process to obtain a valid Philippine passport.
