Hi guys... It will be no wonder why I ask this.... but for those of you who have seen many many months (even years) years of approvals, I have a question.

Does USCIS tend to begin working on a date and actually finish through with that date before moving on? I know they move on to datea that are sometimes not chronological from the previous date but do they tend to finish a date?

Today therw were a few approvals for March 6th (new web) and yes of course that's my date too.

i had to ask you long-timers 😌

approvals are not being given by dates being processed. A certain file may be ready before another one, if and when the background comes clean or some other issue. There are several factors to take into account....country of person being investigated for immigration benefits, petitioner, how common the name may be in those databases they use.  There could be random things nobody here may know what they try or dig out from someones past. I have been in not just the immigration process and it all varies. i.e: Global entry, TWIC card, FBI clearances for gun purchases, etc. They do not stop on one certain date and do nothing. They probably pick up another file from the next day and keep going and finish them as they get clearance.

Hahha,  no. Appears they are all over place. You can track your case on the case tracking app and see those that were approved/denied/ref for your particular day though to get a rough idea.

I understand those points; however, overall, I am curious to hear from some member and who've been here for years as to whether USCIS tends to "put this file down for this reason - clearance, country etc" - and go to another petition with the same received date OR if they do not finish one date before catapulting around from this date to that date.

im  just wondering if they finish a date before jumping 2 weeks ahead.

Yep, search USCIS case tracker on your phone apps. You can search your case by case # and are able to use the search feature to see other cases that were submitted the same day you submitted yours. I do not believe it is an official gov app but I do recommend it 🙂

I haven’t been here for YEARS persay-well since 2014- but I don’t think anyone but an officer can tell you how EXACTLY they process. I like to think there are random files on a desk they just sort through. But they definitely don’t start and finish a day.

In my opinion it’s the most reliable thing out there. Nothing will be perfect and there really isn’t much rhyme or reason why USCIS does some things. There are soooo many factors that come into play -petition/visa evidence, visa center location, staffing, applicant background checks, caseload, new policies etc.

That number sounds about right for any given date of noa1 unless it’s a Monday (Mondays go over 250-300)

unfortunately that app is not as as accurate as it used to be for updates (but numbers are correct for dates)

they usually go through a month approving some from everyday (not all applications of that date though maybe 10 apps from one date gets anything -rfe or approval etc- in any given date)

Then everyday or every other day they continue moving towards the end of month, usually when they reach for example March 31 noa1 and everyday seen a touch of some sort, they go more deep into the month.

i don’t think this is on purpose but more like how their operations go and how they assign cases, also when a case comes back from background checks.

basically when cases go through background checks their order gets reshaped and the numbers and dates doesn’t hold much importance.

but if you’ve seen your case date, and your case comes back or came back from background like most regular cases you’ll probably hear something within the month if not sooner.

good luck.

I agree with this. My wife and I have been married since January of this year (her K-1 was approved late last year) and she now has her EAD/AP. The USCIS site and case tracker still says her K-1 is pending approval. HA! Yet, it's been up to date during the AOS status, thus far.

We constantly checked the app and USCIS site during the K-1 and it drove us nuts seeing "Case Still Pending". Then one day, the approval letter showed up in my mail box. Now, we just wait it out and don't really bother checking on where they are at during the rest of the process. It'll happen when it happens.
