My wife, who is in the AOS process, is awaiting the scheduling of our field office interview. We will be traveling to Colombia for two weeks in late December and, due to the Houston office backlog, she will likely need to use her AP/EAD combo card to re-enter the USA at the conclusion of our trip.

Question: other than bringing combo card and passport, what else should we bring in the forms of documents? Should we also bring her I-797 receipt forms for her I-130 and I-485?

Question: what typically happens when someone like my wife presents the AP/EAD combo card at immigration while re-entering the USA? Any advice about this process? If they start questioning her should she just refer them to our lawyer? She has done nothing wrong, no crimes, etc., but we are concerned.

Thanks in advance for for your advice and replies!
