Hi guys!

Ugh, time is running out, I have only 1 month and I still have no plan B.

I would like to know if you guys have experience with H1B approval process? I am still waiting for mine, since Apr. 24 ! I haven't received anything, not even a RFE. Do you know if it's possible to extend the OPT status if the immigration does not get back to my by Sep. 30th? I know that there is a period that you can stay here after the OPT date expires (2 months), but how in heaven am I going to pay rent if I can't work during this period? Is it possible to work as a freelance during these 2 months?

TIA!

Mariana

I know OPT is pretty strict and your EAD card ties with your OPT. Differ by state, your EAD may show up to a 2 months grace, to allow you to work till the grace period ends. Be careful with that so you may not end up in trouble with staying/working in the States later.

Unless you are on the STEM program, I don't think you can extend your OPT beyond 12 months.

Which center is ur case sitting at? Mine is California. It seems now the Vermont center has shorter processing time. If u r cap-exempt then file premium processing.

Hanging there. It may be close to be adjudicated.
