Hello,

My wife finally got her migrant visa and will be moving here soon. I was wondering if someone can guide me in how to get social security card for my wife is that some thing which can only be done when she gets here, what will be required to get social. When i was filling out ds-261 i chose the option for social security card. Another question was in regards to getting state id, as she will be new and to get an id you need to provide proof of residence, so i was wondering what steps should i take for that. Lastly for green card, how long does it take for uscis to mail you one after submitting the fees and if i can mail it to a different address thenwhat my wife gave during her interview.

With the option to get the social, you should wait about 3 weeks. If nothing comes, check with SSA.

The green card is often but not always needed for the state ID.   Depends on the state and how well trained the clerks are.  The green card takes a month or some up to three months.  The address on file at POE is where it goes.  Changing address is not advisable if you can help it.
