Bonafide Marriage

I was looking at the guides and I see what they accept as evidence of a bonafide marriage.  My fiance and I will have just gotten married when we submit this.  I will add him to my bank account and I well have changed my last name.  I'm not sure what else I can show them.  We well not have bought property and we don't have kids.  I just need some advice.  Will sending in contracts for my church wedding next August count? We are getting married in January in a courthouse and then doing a church wedding with reception in August.  He will just come in for a week or two for the church wedding.  I just need to know what else I can send to show a bonafide marriage.

Wills

Documents which a bona fide marriage would generate showing both names

Documents showing both at same address (Amazon, etc)

He will be living in Canada and I in the US. We don't have wills or anything.  We won't be living together until he gets his VISA. He won't be on my insurance,  we don't have wills.  The only thing we will have is our bank statements. I don't know what else we can get to show this.  I don't have anything you said.  We have been together 3 years,  I have so much to show our relationship is legit.  The marriage one will be hard because we will apply right after we are married.

You don't have to live together to have a will.  It only takes one notarized signature.

Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital 
relationship. Each affidavit must contain the full name and address of the person making the affidavit; date 
and place of birth of the person making the affidavit; and complete information and details explaining how the 
person acquired his or her knowledge of your marriage; 

 

Who can do this?

Anyone...however, personal affidavits have little weight......but newly married couples living apart just don't have a lot of evidence......you can only provide what you have....

Will that affect my Visa that I'm newly married?  Everyone was telling me that this way is easier. I don't want to get denied because we don't Hagee enough evidence.

Being newly married, in itself, will not cause a negative effect on the visa........When you live apart, one of the strongest pieces of evidence is the on-going communication between the couple....along with evidence of visiting each other if possible.

The sooner you file, the sooner your spouse can enter the US as legal resident........I wish you the very best in your journey.

One more question,  will any of the evidence that I collected about the legitimacy of our pre marriage relationship work?  I have pictures and plane tickets of all of our trips.

Evidence of time spent together is good evidence.

OP, focus more on this type of evidence and less on anything else.  Evidence of time spent together in-person will be your strongest evidence.

Changing your name does not prove anything.  Spend time together, add each other's as beneficiary on insurance, investment, or bank accounts.

Wedding pics (even if its a courthouse wedding)

Make a will and POA (you can get free templates online and have witnessed and notarized)

Add to bank accounts, utility accounts, credit cards, etc

time together, photos, and supporting evidence

open joint sams club account

add to apartment lease (if applicable)

add to deed (if applicable)

name as beneficiary on bank accounts and insurance policies

Submit your documents/ photos/ passport stamps of times you’ve spent together. Photos with family members as well.  Will you add him as an emergency contact at work? I had a copy of that from HR... can he be added to any credit cards or life insurance as well?

bank account requires SS# or ITIN

 onlly time to get ITIN is when filing tax returns in the spring

marry in December and add him as spouse form W7 with proofs as shown on IRS site

u will have plenty of time to do this as 12 to 14 months now for CR1 spouse visa means interview early 2020
