Everyone,

I am a little lost as to what will happen next and when. Almost 2 weeks ago, I got e-mail confirmation from NVC that they are forwarding our approved I-129F petition to the US embassy in Spain, where my fiance lives. This letter has the original USCIS receipt number as well as the NVC case number on it, along with the names of the Prinicipal Applicant (My fiance), and the Petitioner (myself).

My first question: Is it normal for this letter to be addressed to the alien resident beneficiary (my fiance who lives on Spain), because this letter is. Or should it be addressed to me? I'm a little confused about this one. This notification came to my e-mail address, this is why I ask this.

My second question: What happens next, and how long does it normally take? How long until we can get an appointment for the inteview?

I realize these are somewhat newbie questions, but hopefully clear concise answers to these will help someone else as they go through this K1 process. Again, thank you all for your input, and I wish only the best to everyone else who is going through this K1 visa process right now. I know it's stressful, but hang in there! It will be totally worth it!

For your first question, it is normal for it to be addressed to the beneficiary. That's how mine was. Granted mine was an approved I-130 for a CR1 visa, but nevertheless it's similar in this regard.

I defer the other question to a K1 applicant who has more experience there.

well congrats maybe for this time your case should show ready in CEAC, you can check it with the case number.

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=WwjqOlbeRYzCYubaSQI+RA==

Also with the case number your fiance can fill the DS-160, pay the fees and book medical and and embassy interview.(This vary per USEM)

So check your embassy Information:

He can help a lot with the information you need!

@Greenbaum Do you have the following steps for Spain Embassy. Thank you so much

Spain requires the embassy send the packet 3 which allows the beneficiary to schedule and attend the medical and needs to be brought to the medical appointment, and in order to book the interview Spain requires packet 4. I have not verified this but this information came from someone who processed recently.

Also, it's time to move over to their sub-forum here on VJ for their country. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/95-europe-amp-eurasia-except-the-uk-and-russia/

I think this will give a lot of current information

Kind regards,

I just checked the CEAC website, but it's not a valid number, so I guess that the embassy hasn't received it yet, but since it's been 2 weeks, that's coming soon for sure. I have to get my I-134 together pretty fast, so I can send it to her for the package of paperwork that needs to go to the embassy.

Thank you!

You mention "packet 3" and "packet 4". Please explain this to me. These are totally new to me, I've never heard such before. Are these e-mails, or actual parcels? I thought the embassy was supposed to get in touch directly with the alien beneficiary. I'm not sure that the NVC paperwork has gotten the the embassy in Madrid yet though, because I entered the info on the CEAC website, and it didn't recognize the case number.

I will!

When checking the case number on CEAC be sure you are selecting "immigrant" visa or you will fail at every turn.

Yes the Embassy starts dealing directly with the beneficiary. P3 is the letter describing the next steps as well as what's required. P4 is seldom used but in some cases it a response, to your response, to the P3 allowing you to do something, like schedule your interview.

OK, now I understand! Thank you for the explanation. I'll keep the selection of "immigrant" in mind, and thank you for that detail too. I was wondering which one to use.

I just checked it a minute ago.... It's there! But my fiance has heard nothing yet. Can you tell me how they will contact her? By phone, or only e-mail, or postal mail? She's a little confused as to what to expect, and honestly, so am I. I'm assuming it will be by postal mail, but as of yet, she's seen nothing.

My Gawd. I gave all the information of what to do, when to do it and you still ask "how will they contact her". Oy Vey brother. You gots to do some of the heavy lifting too.

It won't be long before your fiance can set a US embassy appointment for her interview. And yes, the letter always goes to the beneficiary. It's an easy ride from here (usually!) so just roll with it and you'll both be fine.

So the NOA2 is sent to beneficiary's address ( mailing and email)? Or does it goes to the US citizen?

It is the beneficiary who files the AOS on his/her behalf, so it is that person who receives the NOA2 and any RFEs. My wife had 2 RFEs, but we settled those very quickly. From the tone of your remark, I'm left wondering if you and your beneficiary do not share the same address?

I see from your profile that you just filed your I-129F. The NOA2 for that goes to the petitioner. After the foreign fiance comes to the U.S., all paperwork is filed on behalf of or by the foreign party, and they receive all NOAs.
