I guess what you are suggesting is in case of IR1/CR1 visas. In IR1/CR1, the NVC gives you the interview date but in case of K-1 visa its the applicant who has to book the interview with the embassy.

I'm sorry I missed that it's K1 visa. I was talking about IR1/CR1. Ignore my post.

For the Embassy in the Netherlands: I was able to book my medical exam with showing the letter of the NVC stating my casenumber.
