Hey guys, I need your suggestions. My fiancée had put a passport which just got expired they got back to us with an RFE asking us about the proof of citizenship. A passport valid for 5/10 years. We want to send the birth certificate instead but they have mentioned that birth certificate must not be an abstract. I’m not sure what this means ? They want a birth certificate by the civil authority. My fiance has a birth certificate which says “certificate of vital records”. Is this the right birth certificate we could put? Are we able to get one that is not an abstract? Is there any link or a simpler way we can get this birth certificate and any quicker way so we can send off the RFE ASAP then waiting for a new passport ?

 I’m sorry if there is a post about this in the previous posts.

It has to be a birth certificate issued by the county/district/parish where he was born. It's also called the "long form". It's usually the same birth certificate needed to renew the passport. The abstract is just a short version of the birth certificate but I don't think it includes all the information like hospital name, etc.  What state is he from?

So he can either go to the county courthouse from where he was born in and request one or he could request one online/in person/mail from Austin headquarters of the Health and Human Services office.

It sounds like he has the long form. If his is a full page long, then he has the right one. A Texas BC abstract is usually half a page with minor detail.

How long is it taking for the approval to leave California? We were approved on the 12th but as of today, it still hasn't been sent to NVC? Any clue of an estimate?

I was approved on the 5th and it hasn’t arrived yet. Seems to be taking 3+ weeks right now.

I can only speak for myself, but my goal here is to give and receive emotional support as well as information.  I have many loving, supportive people in my life, but none of them fully understand the utter anguish that is this waiting process in the same way as the others on this forum who are going through the exact same thing, and I appreciate having this community to turn to for wisdom and advice and understanding.  The venting, the encouragement, the victories all keep this forum lively and interesting as well as informative.

I agree with you 100000000% and I feel you @TrickorTea  Vent away. Some people don’t want to read the vent or clearly cannot understand emotion. And then they do not need to reply. In fact a reply to go read and educate yourself is actually incredibly unhelpful and not educating anyone as clearly your post was not asking for education...it’s asking for support! And the truth is you can read all you want but NO ONE KNOWS why it’s being held. And that’s the most frustrating part of the whole process. This has been one of the harder things I’ve walked through in my life, which is funny because really it’s so not a big deal in the scheme of things (no one has died here lol) but emotionally it’s tough. And you are in the toughest part. Hang in there. There is no reason why it’s you being chosen for this torture. But you are. And it will pass. Hang in there and VENT AWAY!!!!!!

The leave the NVC every other week. Next batch of cases leaves on T/W of next week.

Have some fun and play with this to track your DHL to your embassy.

DHL Shipping

Go to www.dhl.com click Express then Tracking, then Track by Shipper's Reference, and on this page you add your search information. You change the day and month to what you think your package might have left NVC or call NVC to get the date your package had left NVC in route to Manila then go to the DHL website and enter the following information:

EXAMPLE:

* Shipper´s Reference : EXP 24 MAR 2011A  (This is the date you think it left NVC, just substitute the date leave everything else as is)

* Date range for shipment - From: 23 - 03 - 2011

* Date range for shipment - To: 26 - 03 - 2011

Account Number - Leave this blank

Shipment Destination: Manila / Works for any Country Just add the city where the Embassy is located

From my understanding, there are officially 4 on that list. But, of course, I imagine any petition from a middle eastern country or any country facing internal or international political issues will probably be paid closer attention to.

https://www.state.gov/j/ct/list/c14151.htm

P.S. I'd like to also mention that although Cuba and the Crimean region of the Ukraine are not on the list, there are trade sanctions with them and they are probably on the watch list, too.

I'm Indonesian, South East Asia and as far as I know, we don't have any issues whatsoever with the US regarding military, trade, political, etc. but.. Idk..

I'm trying to be careful with my words also here.

Thank you SO much for the link @cduran really appreciate it.

Who is the birth certificate from?

Petitioner or beneficiary?

Petitioner BORN in the US needs a long birth certificate-- maybe others can chime in if it NEEDS to be certified....

Beneficiaries need a certified birth certificate but that's ONLY after coming into the country when filing for AOS with a foreign birth certificate that needed translation

Day 189... I need to hear something soon, we are starting to feel anxious as we have never been away for this long and we have other 4 months ahead.

I literally have had my life on hold for most of 2018 and it's driving me crazy. I need to buy things and I'm like "would this fit in my suitcase?" :(

Just a bad day, this whole process is a roller-coaster... Good luck to all of us!

My RFE response received on 10-12, and i'm still waiting for the NOA2 too.
