So I know I'm waiting for an NVC letter but my fiance is in Haiti, they don't have a mail system, how do they notify people otherwise?

By email.

Here is what I have on Haiti. If and when you get the P3 letter would you be so kind and share it with me. I use them to help others like yourself who will come after you. I have shared by information with others from Haiti but I have yet to see a P3 letter from them. These threads work when information is shared.

Start by completing and submitting the DS-160. Print out the confirmation page. Then follow the instructions on how to pay your visa fee http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ht/ht-niv-paymentinfo.asp ) After you pay the fee at SogeExpress,  The next day you will be able to schedule the interview. From then once you have the confirmation sheet for your scheduled interview you can provide that to one of the listed DR's to schedule your medical. This link is very helpful http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Haiti&cty=Port-au-Prince   Also contact the embassy and have them email packet 3 to you but start the process as outlined above while you are waiting for the P3, Although there is nothing special in it but you still need it for medical and apparently for the police certificate also because for some reason they ask for that the embassy letter to get you the certificate.

You probably won’t be able to get medical done without packet 3, the embassy will probably send it to you through mail or email depends on what info they have. What I recommend is call the embassy from the US it's +17035447842 and from Haiti +50928122929. When you call they will probably tell you if they have your case and will tell you to wait 2 weeks to call back if you don’t receive packet 3.  Or you can send an email to support-haiti@ustraveldocs.com what that will do is create an inquiry where they will answer in 1-2 days and most likely will send you packet 3 in that response. Just make sure you put case number, petitioner and beneficiary’s name and birth date.  Just tell them you want the packet 3 by email and specify the email you want them to send it to in your email to them.

Medical is expensive and with vaccines the cost is $440. The prices are listed on packet 3 and it is $265 without vaccines, but should always take with vaccines to save money later, because you will have to take them eventually and are way more expensive in the U.S. Check the P3 letter for updated costs.

When you are at the VJ sub forum for all things dealing with the US Embassy in Haiti most there will help answer your questions for the processing of your visa using their personal experience.

Hi! Happy to see this thread is still alive 😂

So as you know we got our RFE on September 26, and it was about a criminal record box my fiance forgot to check (and we are happy he did because he would have checked NO and the answer was YES about some misdemeanor -MIPs) and they also asked for proof of me being in mexico when we met.

We take some days to find the police records and sent them on October 10, along with my passport copies (all pages as proof of me not leaving Mexico since I moved here) and my mexican residency cards since 2016. I wasn't sure is this was enough information but is exactly what they asked for on the RFE and I couldn't think of what else to include as proof...

They updated the website on October 16 saying they received the documents and we are waiting again. I'm so nervous because I read about some couple being denied for missing documents at the RFE response. But we did add everything we could find (police records copies and court statements, but we couldn't find proof of payment for the MIPs tickets).

Anyways, here we are again trying to not let the anxiety win...

Oh, and I have good news too, I don't know if you remember my passport drama (my government wasn't issuing them and there were people waiting since 2017 to get a new passport and mine just expired). well, I did the request online a month and a half ago and I received notification that my passport extension arrived at the Venezuelan consulate  in Mexico 2 weeks ago. I'm so happy about it, one thing less to be worried!

Hey guys so just an update, we finally got the RFE faxed. They need the proof of citizenship from my fiancée.

They need a birth certificate registered and issued by a civil authority and not an abstract one.

an unexpired passport issued initially for a full ten/ five year period. Etc etc. - he had put the passport but it got expired recently.

Im assuming it’s just one of the documents right ?

@Greenbaum could you please answer my question.  I filled on Feb 8 and got RFE and they received my response 33 days ago. My attorney called them today and they said I am within normal processing times. So I have to wait 60 days after they received our response!  Is this normal?  It's been 8 months and two weeks since I filled won't this be considered out of normal processing times?

Thank you.

I was told when I called that past 7.5 months from NOA1 date was outside normal processing time. I would call again!

Please share this with your Lawyer as this information will bring him/her up to date. [For a steak dinner I'll help you along as your lawyer you are paying the bucks to is not up to speed - sorry I had to rag on a lawyer as they do nothing for this process but get paid] :D I know more then they do.

The USCIS has issued a Ruling, effective April 17, 2007, that gives adjudicators flexibility in determining the length of time a petitioner or applicant has to respond to a Request for Evidence (RFE) or a Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID). Currently, the standard deadline for response to an RFE is twelve weeks (84 days). NOIDs must be responded to within thirty days. Under this regulation, the USCIS will determine how much time should be permitted in any given case, with maximum possible time being what is now the standard response deadline. That is, adjudicators will set deadlines for both RFEs and NOIDs that could be up to twelve weeks in case of RFEs or up to thirty days for NOIDs. No extensions of time are permitted.
