Are you interviewing in London? If so, they have approved many with only an employer letter if it states your salary.  If you want to bring extra proof you can bring pay stubs.  Use only the most recent...3-6 months if overly cautious. Your former jobs and their W2s do not matter to London.

I interviewed at London on the 10th of August. I arrived with w2s, last 3 payslips and and employment verification. they straight up asked me for tax returns without knowing what I had. I didn't have tax returns but they accepted just the w2s and and a letter confirming current employment.

I-129F Submitted: 01 November 2017NOA1 Received: 03 November 2017NOA2 Received: 22 May 2018 | NVC Received: 08 June 2018 | Consulate Received: 06 July 2018 | Medical: 27 July 2018 | Interview: 10 August 2018 (APPROVED) | VISA in Hand: 22 August 2018 | POE: 28 September 2018 :joy:

Days between NOA1 until VISA in hand: 292

It's not as hard as you are imagining.

What "proof" will be in the binder? If you are planning proof of relationship like messages, photos, trips, receipts---you can skip that. London does not want it. Seriously...not needed in London.

He will not take medical things to the interview. That is all provided to the clinic and the clinic will courier a four page report straight to the embassy.

I think they out of habit may ask for tax returns because that's a common and easy proof. But they will approve a K1 with only an employer letter. They do not require you to prove finances five different ways. They do not have a set requirement for what proves financials. It says so on their website.

The embassy provides a list of what to bring to the interview. Check it out. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/required-documents/

Thank you! :)

some things dont apply to me and my fiance like divorce or death certificate and adoption, and police certificate from other countries. If we dont have it there is no need to bring proof of some sort not having it? If that makes since. Like do we need something to show weve never been married or not adopted. Sorry probably a lame question

If it doesn't apply then you don't need it.  The majority of K1s need:

Their passport

A US size passport photo

UK police report

An affidavit of support (I-134)

But it's good to read the list for details because some K1s have divorce decrees, military service, documents not in English and so forth.

Later when he does the London part of the process, there are certain email confirmations for things submitted online like payment, interview date, DS-160. Those confirmations are brought to the interview to facilitate getting in the door and showing you have paid and such. That's more about logistics than personal documents required to get a visa. They can actually look up who has an interview that day and if you have paid, but the confirmations make the interview day flow more smoothly.

It will all come together for you. When you first start, there is way too much to take in. Then couple that with reading K1 forums that make it seem like everybody in immigration is out to trip you up. Each embassy has their own method and vibe, so it's good that you have already found the UK forum and will learn that a London interview is not that daunting. It's a short friendly chat and showing a few documents.

As far as confirmations, when you get the confirmation it will tell you to bring it to the interview. So you print it and put it with your interview things like the police report and your I-134.

Your official instructions from London are here (read them on a real computer) so start becoming familiar with the steps listed if you scroll down. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

Read every link and FAQ and learn what's coming up.

My personal advice is

Him (UK)

  1. Order police certificate NOW.
  2. Get the shots needed for adjustment of status or a record of having already had them. He also needs a health summary printout from his GP. NHS is slow. It could take weeks to get in and get what he needs. Start Monday pursuing that.
  3. Get some passport style photos made. 4 US or U.K. size for medical. 1 US size for embassy.
  4. Get the documents on the list like birth certificate (I forgot that one in the earlier list 😬).
  5. Make sure the passport will have 8 months remaining on it at Interview and is in good shape. People have had them rejected for peeling cover, badly curled pages, suntan lotion stains, and going through the washing machine in their jeans pocket. Renew if needed sooner rather than later.

Then he's ready when the case gets to London and it's showtime to actually follow those four steps London outlines on the K1 instruction page.

You (US)

  1. Finalize your I-134 and proof of income, make a photocopy for your records, then snail mail it to your fiancé. That's all that's needed from you.
  2. Call NVC if you want. I have no clue how long it takes for USCIS to get it to NVC or NVC to get to London. Make yourself crazy calling daily. 😂 Calling is not a requirement because you and he will each get notification by mail/email. BUT everybody does it because they just have to know their new case number before they get the mail. Sometimes they focus on that so much, they haven't gotten their ducks properly in a row for showtime in London. That's why my list may be different than what the others in the midst of it will say. They rush to the holy grail (making an appointments) and then stress because their ducks got all out of order and the GP isn't cooperating with medical info needed tomorrow.

Luckly tom got his police certificate a few weeks ago :) as for the vaccines history, is it just vaccines he needs to shoe or is it his full medical history? I think he only needs the flu shot.. Were not too sure. Is There a list as to what he may need? Also he got a vaccine history but it has no address of the GP or anything.. Should he have them out an address or something to verify as to where his vaccines were taken?

Thank you for your help!! You are my hero :)
