I met my fiancé through an online chat site which has no intention of making couples out of people. You are literally just matched up with a complete stranger which you start chatting with.

I never brought TOS with me to the interview and never attached it to my I-129f form and everything went fine. At the interview I was just asked how we met and explained to him what kind of site it was.

Don't know if I'm of any help.

You are so close! Hopefully you  will get your good news  in a couple of short months, without any Facebook RFE related delays!

Hoping for the best. Thank you@Shiran Well, we did not check the IMB box as we did not use Marriage Broker. We made a letter entitled "Declaration of How We Met" and "Evidence of Meeting In-Person" letter attached to the evidences under number 54 of the 129f form stating that we met each other thru a common friend, started chatting on facebook then things went well then we met each other here in the Philippines.

Are we going to be okay? We did not send tos or terms and condition of Facebook because we met thru our common friend. Facebook Messenger is just our way of communication.

As of the 2 letters, we copied what yuri and bruce did/ suggested on their Youtube channel.

They do not require you to print TOS (terms of service) for couples that meet online. That's a myth. I wish VJ'ers would stop spreading this bogus info. I went through a high-fraud country (we met online) and never an issue. Many of my friends and acquaintances married from dating sites - never an issue. No TOS print-outs. Almost everyone meets online. You only need to say that you met through online dating site. That's not a marriage broker. Quit worrying about it - not an issue in the digital age.

they dont require it, no but i have seen RFEs for tinder and even facebook

its not like its hard to find and print TOS. i sent the TOS from facebook just to cover my ###, cause with my luck id get some ####### who didnt know what it was....

I just want to tell my story here, even though my i129f was adjudicated a few years back.

We met online on a website that no longer exists and would connect two people randomly.

We simply answered that “we met online 20xx and then in person in city, state in 20xx”. We were kinda afraid we would get rfe for the website but we were approved.

To be on the safe side, I brought to my k1 interview a Wikipedia (lol) article about it and a statement saying it wasn’t an IMB and it was shut off, but it wasn’t asked.

Later on during the aos interview the officer did ask about it but we just said the name of it he made a face like he didn’t recognize it and then we said it was no longer active and that was it, can’t even recall if he wrote anything down.

So it’s most likely they won’t even bat an eye about it at all, but it’s always good to be prepared just in case.

good luck

I am more impressed that people were able to meet and form relationship through what sounds like chatroulette or omegle. Amazing!

i129f does ask how you met. Do you not remember what you put down? If you didn’t mention the truth, you’re gonna be in a lot of trouble because of misinterpretation issues. You should have sent a copy of the terms of service from that website along with your application. USCIS demands it. They will either send you an RFE or you’ll be denied (I only say this because of the new rules about RFEs, but if your application is complete they may just RFE you ) in about 7-9 months time. Get the docs ready for when that time comes.

NOT true at all. My fiance (now husband) and I met on tinder. We mentioned it once on our application and we NEVER sent in a TOS. And we never got an RFE. It could vary per officer but USCIS definitely doesn’t “demands it.”

OP, don’t worry about it. If an RFE comes, it’ll come.

Could it be RFE-worthy if I did disclose that we met "through a dating app", but did not specify that it was Tinder? Everything depends on how you define things, and perhaps it would be strange to consider "a dating app/service" to also possibly include IMBs, but maybe it would still have been good to mention Tinder since it is so well known. Although, as has been pointed out here before, it does not say in the instructions that you need to prove that you did not meet through an IMB, and obviously I checked "no" for that specific question. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

It will all come down to the officer reviewing your case

My interpretation is you don't "meet" a person on tinder, you match and start talking on tinder. You "meet" them in real life when you go on some type a date to starbucks, the park, movies etc. I initially matched with my fiancee on tinder, but we actually met at a hiking trail, and that was the in-person story of how we met for the K1 Petition. It was accepted, no RFE, no delay, approved embassy interview, etc. She arrives here September 13th.

Printing out the terms of service for Facebook or tinder, being nervous about "meeting" online, etc. is all unnecessary. It clearly says "in person" meeting not "online meeting." As in, where you met them "in person." Atleast that's what I did, because it's true we met on a hike not on tinder.

The entire point of of all these dating apps and sites is to meet someone in "real life," until you actually meet them in real life they could be a catfish or Russian troll bot.  In my book, matching with someone online is not meeting them.

I met my fiance on Tinder too and this was exactly my though, we matched and after a few days talking we decided to go out, we had 2 dates and then he went back to USA (he was on a work trip). Then he visited 5 times in the past 2 years lol. I didn't include T&C because I also saw the IBM thing too specific, I don't remember the part where USCIS "asks for T&C" otherwise I would have include it.

We did mentioned and described our first encounter in a "love story" way.

We are still waiting for approval so let's see if they ask for anything else.

It makes me mad because we failed in a few things and people is like "you were supposed to send that" mmm I followed the instructions and I could not find ANYTHING of USCIS asking for things like "Photocopy of the back side of a Birth certificate which is blank btw"... anyways... let's see how it goes I'm on day 189 so far.

I'm glad I did not follow the guide on how construct my I-129F. I followed the instructions issued by USCIS and I have my VISA and I'm leaving the UK soon. So many delays must be caused by the extra work the adjudicators have to do by sifting through so much additional info that's not been asked for.

Yes! And lately people is adding more things "just in case", like BC of beneficiary and other things that USCIS is clearly not asking for.
